What Are Your 2024 Plans?

2023 is quickly ending, but the Good News is that the Gospel has no limits or time frame constrictions. We don’t know yet what 2024 has in store for us, but what we do know is that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)! Our assignment as Christians is to continue sharing that message as long as we have breath!

I want to take this time to especially thank all who have been faithful readers of my monthly newsletter and weekly Monday Morning Blogs over the years. I honestly never know what God is going to prompt me to share with you, but so many have sent me emails, comments, and messages that what I wrote was exactly what you needed to hear and share. To God be the glory! I pray, listen, write, wait for confirmation, and then post. That’s been my routine now for years, and Lord willing, I’ll continue doing the same for many more years.

No one knows exactly what God has planned for us, our family, the future of our country, or even the world. We’re watching an attack on Israel and Jews that we thought would never happen again, and yet here it is even in our own country. Environmentalists and liberal politicians try to convince us of the fallacy that if we don’t stop eating meat, using gas stoves, or driving gasoline fueled cars the world is going to end.

What none of these people acknowledge is what you and I know to be a fact: Only God will decide when the world ends.

God created the world and He alone will determine when earth as we know it will become a new heaven and earth. You and I are smarter than all the crazies trying to create fear with the sole purpose of control. Don’t give into their scare tactics but create community wherever you are. Be ready to help others with what the Lord has given you to share. Follow the Golden Rule that permeates throughout the Bible.  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matt. 22:37-40

Man didn’t create the world and he can’t end the world! Only God controls the end time for the earth and our earthly life, but we can spend eternity with Him in Paradise if we only believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:24-31

Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Ps. 119:89-90

I pray each of you have a blessed and fruitful 2024 and you will hear the Lord reveal clearly to you the plans He has for you! As an author, I look at the ending of one year as the completion of a book and the New Year like a new manuscript waiting to be written. What do you want your New Year to look like? Are you ready for the next sequel? Ultimately, we can choose to write it with the Lord as our Editor and Inspiration.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer. 29:11

Book Trailer

MANY CHRISTIAN PARENTS THROW UP THEIR HANDS or suffer from guilt based parenting…neither of which helps the daughter. Based on Janet’s own testimony of praying for over six years for her former prodigal daughter, Kim, she offers hope to parents in what may seem like a hopeless situation.

Praying for Your Prodigal Daughter chronicles Janet’s realization that only God could bring back her daughter and the journey of praying daily for Kim’s salvation and God’s will to be done in her life. Their story, as told by Kim and Janet, of God’s redemption in both of their lives, along with the stories of many praying mother’s and former prodigal daughters, will give hope and encouragement to hurting parents of prodigal daughters. Janet also shares practical tips to help parents and families cope with the trauma of having a prodigal daughter or sibling.

Each chapter has discussion question designed for use as a family or support group, and Janet encourages families to pray and receive support together. There is also space to journal and cry out to the Lord at the end of each chapter. The Appendix includes “Forty Days of Praying Scripture for Your Daughter” and a "Prayer & Praise Journal."

Christmas Eve falling on Sunday this year was an extra special blessing that I hope you all enjoyed. We attended our church in the morning, a beautiful communion service, then packed up the car and headed down the hill to join our Meridian family at their church service in the afternoon. The picture above was taken in front of their church. Our grandson was working so he wasn’t able to attend, but it was a glorious way to focus on Jesus all day with our friends and family.

It will be perfect to start 2024 with New Year’s Eve on Sunday at church too.

I know I’ve talked before about how important it is for grandparents to pray for our grandchildren in a world that exposes them to evil on a daily basis it seems. We can’t be with them every minute, but Jesus can and that’s my prayer for each one of our eleven grandchildren that they will make the right choices, be protected by the armor of God, and walk in the Light.

Here are 19 Scripture Prayers for Grandchildren beautifully written and scripturally based. An awesome way to begin the New Year praying for the precious next generation God has placed into each family.

For he will order his angels to protect you [dear grandchildren] wherever you go. Ps. 91:11 NLT
