BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR THE 2024 PGA OF BC AWARDS CELEBRATION

The PGA of BC encourages members to purchase their tickets for the 2024 PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by TRIBAL, taking place October 29 at 7:00pm PT at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond. Doors open at 6:00pm PT.


Tickets are limited, and we urge members to purchase their ticket as soon as possible to reserve their attendance. Members wishing to attend the event can purchase their tickets by clicking the link sent to all members via email earlier today. If you did not receive an email containing a link to purchase tickets, please reach out to Communications & Marketing Manager Graham Abraham at graham@pgabc.org. Multiple tickets can be bought by utilizing the quantity drop down on the left side of the transaction page.


The PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by TRIBAL is an annual tradition and opportunity to recognize the individuals and golf facilities that are leaders in our Association. This year’s event will include beverages and hors d'oeuvres, as well as an enhanced awards presentation. We look forward to welcoming members of the Association, sponsors, and media personalities to the event to celebrate the achievements of professionals and facilities from across British Columbia.

CALL FOR 2024 PGA OF BC FALL TRADE SHOW VOLUNTEERS

The PGA of BC is seeking volunteers for the upcoming PGA of BC Fall Trade Show, held October 29-30 at the River Rock Casino Resort.


Volunteers will assist in several ways: Registration; helping exhibitors move in an out of the theatre; acting as an usher to guide attendees to the show floor; and offering assistance and support to exhibitors throughout the Show.


PGA of BC members who volunteer at the 2024 Fall Trade Show will be awarded one Professional Development Program (PDP) point per hour. We thank all volunteers in advance for their dedication to and support of the Association and its initiatives.

PGA OF BC ADVISES MEMBERS TO IGNORE PHISHING EMAILS RELATED TO FALL TRADE SHOW

The PGA of BC has been made aware that scam phishing emails have been circulating, purporting to represent the Fall Trade Show. These emails state that recipients can acquire the Visitors/Attendees list. The Association confirms that no entity outside of the PGA of BC Office Team has access to a list of attendees, and that the emails circulating are a scam. We advise all members who receive these emails to ignore and delete them.


Communications related to the PGA of BC Fall Trade Show and all other Association events and initiatives will always come from an @pgabc.org or @pgaofbc.ccsend.com address. If you are ever unsure whether an Association-related communication is legitimate, please reach out to the PGA of BC Office Team for confirmation.

APPLICATION OPEN FOR 2024 PGA OF CANADA WARREN CROSBIE COMMUNITY LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Warren Crosbie Community Leader of the Year Award, introduced in 2020 and named after PGA of Canada Past President and Life Member Warren Crosbie, is presented annually to a member of the association who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and gone above and beyond to make a meaningful and lasting impact within their community with an emphasis on ED&I initiatives to grow the game for everyone.

DID YOU KNOW?

The PGA of BC has introduced a new honour to our Awards Celebration for 2024: the Dawn Coe-Jones Female Player of the Year presented by TRIBAL.


Following deliberations from the association's Tournament Committee and recently approved by the Board of Directors, the Female Player of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding female player among the ranks of the Association, influenced by the PGA of BC's Order of Merit and participation in national championships.


Born in Campbell River, Dawn Coe-Jones was one of the most accomplished golfers to ever emerge from British Columbia. Coe-Jones' achievements include three LPGA Tour wins, back-to-back BC Amateur titles, the 1983 Canadian Women's Amateur, NCAA All-American honours, and induction into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and BC Sports Hall of Fame. Coe-Jones passed away in 2016 from chondrosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

UBC Thunderbirds

The UBC Women's Golf Team won the Canada West Championships at the Okanagan Golf Club (Bear Course) on October 7 & 8, with a cumulative team score of -16 to win by 34 shots. Elizabeth Labbe took the individual crown, lighting up the course with a tournament-low 66(-7) on Tuesday to finish with a two-round total of 138 (-8)


The UBC Men's Golf Team finished in second place at the Canada West Championships at the Okanagan Golf Club (Bear Course), shooting a team score of 7-under. The Thunderbirds were paced by Mackenzie Bickell, who closed the tournament at 4-under to finish tied for third place on the individual leaderboard.

Simon Fraser University Red Leafs

The SFU Women's Golf Team competed in the West Texas A&M Regional Preview at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas September 30-October 1. The Red Leafs earned an eighth place finish, with Izzy Ferguson taking ninth place on the individual leaderboard to lead the team. Host university West Texas A&M won the event.


The SFU Men's Golf Team competed in the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf & Country Club on September 30 & October 1. The team finished in second place overall, with Colorado Christian University taking the victory. The Red Leafs were paced by Brendan O'Brien and Danny Im, who tied for thirteenth place on the individual leaderboard.


UVic Vikes


Coaching Staff: Justin Clews, David Rands


The UVic Women's Golf Team competed in the Canada West Championships at the Okanagan Golf Club (Bear Course) on October 7 & 8. The Vikes earned a spot on the podium, closing the championship in third place overall. Cindy Koira was the Vikes' leader, carding rounds of 74-69 to finish in individual third place.


The UVic Men's Golf Team competed in the Canada West Championships at the Okanagan Golf Club (Bear Course), finishing in fourth place. Jagre Knight was fifth on the individual leaderboard at 3-under.

UBC Okanagan Heat


Coaching Staff: Clay Stothers, Mackenzie Barrie, Brandon Raine


The UBCO Women's Golf Team took a silver medal as runners-up at the Canada West Championships this week. Closing the two-round championship with a team score of 18-over par, the Heat were propelled by Bess Chan, who finished at even-par to lead the team and earn sixth place among individuals.


The UBCO Men's Golf Team took their program's first ever Canada West Championships title in dominant fashion, posting a combined score of 24-under to win by 17 strokes. Ryan Gillis (-9) won the individual title, while Thomas Lemay (-7) finished as runner-up and Andrew Rouble (-4) tied for third.

University of the Fraser Valley Cascades



Coaching Staff: Connor O'Dell, Kathy Stecyk, Sean Douglas


The UFV Women's Golf Team competed in the Canada West Championships, where they finished in third place. Morgan Best led the way for the Cascades, shooting one-over par to tie for seventh place among individuals.


The UFV Men's Golf Team earned a fifth-place result in the Canada West Championships. Eli Greene was the top performer for UFV, closing his tournament at 2-over and tie for 16th place on the individual leaderboard.
