Episode 80: A Global Challenge to Combat Dementia - The finalists have been unveiled in The Longitude Prize on Dementia, a more than $5.5 million prize funded by Alzheimer’s Society and Innovate UK and delivered by Challenge Works. Finalists include high-tech specs and a smartwatch that learns daily routines and more. Mary, who was among the judges, and Fred are joined by panel chair Dr. John O’Brien of the University of Cambridge and fellow judge Nic Palmarini, Director at the National Innovation Centre Ageing in the UK.

CABHI Announces New Funding Program -- Ignite
CABHI, powered by Baycrest, is thrilled to introduce its new funding program: Ignite! Ignite provides funding and support to accelerate early-stage innovations that will enhance the lives of older persons, people living with dementia, and their care partners. With Ignite, Canadian innovators can receive $50,000 to $150,000 CAD to turn their transformative ideas into reality. Researchers, point-of-care staff, or companies designing solutions can apply to the Ignite program by Monday, December 2, 2024.

Joe & Bella Wins AARP AgeTech Award
Joe & Bella, an adaptive-apparel brand, was named the winner of the 2024 AARP AgeTech Award. Over 300 startups applied with six finalists being given the opportunity to pitch to an audience of approximately 300 investors and thought leaders. In addition to receiving a $10,000 prize, Joe & Bella will be part of AARP's AgeTech Collaborative program starting in January.

Artifcts Recruiting for Brain Health Study
Artifcts and the UMass Chan Medical School are recruiting participants for their brain health research study that aims to answer whether the Artifcts platform can be used as a digital screening tool for cognitive health. Participants will receive a one-year Artifcts membership at no cost to create and privately share Artifcts for the study.
