Meet Samiya Mohamed, a Sole Train alum who is central to an ever-growing Beloved Community at Sole Train. She joins us for a new episode of Community Conversations, TBC's original podcast series sharing stories and year-end reflections from our immediate and extended community.

Samiya shares her experience with Sole Train and the impact of its Beloved Community on her and her family. She began as a Young Sole and progressed to the paid leadership position of Mid-Sole while in high school. She matriculated to Yale University with the strong social emotional, leadership, and employment skills that Sole Train helped her develop.

Sole Train is our restorative running and mentorship program where youth learn to set and achieve seemingly impossible goals. Middle school students (Young Soles) train together with adult mentors (Old Soles) to complete a long-distance, non-competitive, race as one. High School students, who are Sole Train alum (Mid Soles), receive leadership development training in a paid work experience to assist Site Coordinators at schools with program administration and inspire Young Soles.

Listen above and please consider a year-end gift today in support of Sole Train and TBC's programs. Together, we can make more stories like Samiya's possible for our city's youth in 2024 and beyond!
