Again the air is full

of falling: the fall of the leaves

in the weighty season that bring

all home again to the lowly

miracle from which they came.

March to End Fossil Fuels on September 17

On Sunday, September 17, ioin friends from Roots & Wings and HRPGreen as we worship together at 10 AM before attending the March to End Fossil Fuels in New York City at 1 PM.

During worship, we will ground our action in prayer and song, and then travel together to the March to make our voices heard by world leaders gathering at the United Nations to address the urgent need to end the use of fossil fuels and find ways to restore Mother Earth to balance. All are welcome; we will work out carpool arrangement to the train station after the service. Bring your protest signs to worship!

New at The Donald Gallery

Donald Gallery

The Opening Reception for artist Ruth Irving's 'The Fibers of Life: Celebrated Cells and Personal Mycelium' is Sunday, September 10, at noon. The Donald Gallery is located at South Church.

Irving's work explores fungal relationships in a uniquely tangible way.

The self-taught local artist takes advantage of fibers and mixed media to tell the story of mycelium from the fungi’s perspective. Glass beads become seed sacks; silk threads become a colorful, undulating surface; fiber is pulled, stuffed and woven to create textures and surfaces until there is a shift into another realm.

For the artist, her work is about so much more than revealing the unseen underground: it’s about the unseen inside. “In biology, cells are repeated and consistent in all life but inherently individual and alive," said Irving. "In my work, the inner and outer spaces become a metaphor ... I create the intimacy I seek for myself.”

Light of Harmony Sufi Meditation

Light of Harmony Sufi Meditation invites all to join in Dances of Universal Peace! Thursday nights: September 28, October 26, November 30, and December 21, 7:45-8:45pm, in the South Church sanctuary.

The Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) are simple, multicultural, circle dances. They use sacred phrases from many religious traditions to touch and deepen the spiritual essence within oneself and to experience spiritual harmony with others. One need not know anything to attend. Everything is taught on the spot each time. There are neither performers nor audience; participants of all ages and physical abilities are always welcomed. Hakim Dan Gallagher has been leading the DUP since 2002 with clarity, compassion, and wit.

Questions? Please call, text, or email Hakim. 608-438-3732. danwithplan@gmail.com
