Honoring our Employees in September

September began with Direct Support Professionals Week, a chance for us to thank the many employees who care for our participants every day.

Our theme for DSP week this year was "Via Royalty," and while we didn't celebrate with high tea, we did enjoy some other treats.

The second week in September, we celebrated Employee Appreciation Week, where we honored our non-DSP staff, as well as staff at Lehigh Children's Academy.

Read more below about the other ways we recognized our employees.

This month, we recognized employees who celebrated Milestone Anniversaries by sharing their accomplishments on social media. Milestone employees received special anniversary gifts as well.

Employees were rewarded and offered the chance to enter a raffle for more than 25 prizes, including Iron Pigs tickets, jewelry, and gift cards. Employees also received free pretzels from Philly Pretzel factory.

More than thirty of our participants sent postcards thanking their DSPs for their hard work. Some of the messages were funny, some were touching.

Wicked Plant Fest a Success!

On September 8th, our Spruce Street Products team took an assortment of hand-poured candles, tie-dyed tote bags, and a few plant specimens to the Lehigh Valley Wicked Plant Fest at Steel Stacks.

If you missed it, we have candles, bags and more in our lobby during business hours at 336 W. Spruce Street.

Trip to Philadelphia Zoo

Community Connections and Adult Training participants and staff took their much-anticipated annual trip to the Philadelphia Zoo this September.

Via's group explored Big Cat Falls, saw giant tortoises, and had fun looking for the animals in their exhibits.

We've shared some of our favorite photos from the day here.

Parking Lot Improvements Completed

At the end of September, Via's Spruce Street parking lot underwent milling and repaving. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and the project was extended by a few days.

During the repaving project, our President & CEO Lisa Walkiewicz and Director of Small Group Employment Sean Hartman shuttled participants and staff safely to our building.

The end result is a safer, more accessible parking lot for our participants, staff, and visitors.
