Sharing the message of Jesus!

November/December 2023

As I packed and stuffed the suitcases, hoping to get each one at the right weight, I thought of home and got so excited to see my children that the Lord has graciously placed in my care, and all the children in the ministry that the Lord has brought to us. I would be traveling the next day, Thanksgiving Day, and it reminded me of many things for which I give thanks. I give the most thanks for Christmas and Easter. To me they go hand-in-hand. We could not have Easter without Christmas – and both bring about joy and thanksgiving! It is hard for some to even fathom that someone could love them so much, to be born into this world just to die for everyone. He died such a horrible death to take the punishment for our sin and was raised from the dead after 3 days to reign as our King of kings and Lord of lords. What a great love, indeed, our God has for us!

It's a blessing to be able to share the gospel with so many children, youth, and even adults. To disciple them in the Word of God is a privilege like no other. As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, let's not forget to give thanks to the Lord for all that He has done for us, for the people we have touched with His Word in Ugandan and America. Let's pray that the Word is shared like never before! Being a part of what God is doing is a joy and a privilege that we humbly cherish.

Christmas is a special time of year. This year we have one of our own, a sponsorship graduate, coming back to lead the Christmas party with his church members who evangelize around the country to children and youth. Goma, who graduated from university early this year, now works for FUFA TV as a host for the morning The Breakfast show. He and his friends have come before and led AWANA with the children and were a big hit.

As we approach the end of the year, we want to express our immense gratitude to each and every one of you for partnering with us to spread the hope of Christ and make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in Uganda. We couldn’t do it without you and with your support we have been able to bring the gift of God's grace to those who need it most. As we plan for the upcoming year, we realize that the continuing cost increases we have experienced will require additional funding in the years to come. As a result, this causes a good number of our sponsored children to need additional funding and we ask that you keep this in mind as you prayerfully consider your year-end and ongoing giving to Hines Ugandan Ministries. This could come in the form of increasing your monthly contributions to your specific sponsored child/children, becoming a scholarship sponsor for a specific child, or in year-end or periodic gifts to our sponsorship food, high school or higher education funds. All general gifts to our ministry funds are used as needed in these areas as well.

Prayer & Thanksgiving

Please thank God together with us for His many blessings in 2023 and for His continued work through HUM in the new year.

🙏🏻 We are thankful for our 2 young missionaries that are serving with us in Uganda. Praise God for the blessing of marriage for Laura & Godfrey and new baby boy, Jaidyn, for Elizabeth & James in 2023.

🙏🏻 We are so thankful to all of you who responded to help our Genesis teachers who have been required further training as a result of new Ugandan guidelines. This will keep them extra busy over the next 2 years. Please pray for strength and endurance for them.

🙏🏻 Please pray for HUM staff to reconnect with and minister to the children as they return from boarding schools for the long Christmas break.

🙏🏻 Pray for our Awana club to remain strong as we teach God’s Word to the children under the faithful leadership of Rogers. Pray also for James, Martin and Ivan as they will teach Bible classes at Genesis when the new school year begins in February.

🙏🏻 Please pray for God’s provision for strong year-end giving to set us up for a strong 2024. He is faithful!

🙏🏻 Pray for the community of Kamonkoli, that God’s presence will draw the people to him as they celebrate Christmas.

Christmas Giving

We continue to collect Christmas donations for our sponsored and waitlisted children. Please consider a gift of $35 to help cover the Christmas celebration, new outfit, small gift, and Christmas food basket for the family for your sponsored children or for those on the waitlist or who’s sponsors are unable to give additionally.

Katherine has returned to Uganda so all Christmas cards should be sent to the Uganda address or you may write your child an electronic greeting at HERE

We are honored to be used by Him and ask you to include the children and families we serve as well as our staff and board members and the country of Uganda in your prayers. He is faithful and we desire to do all things to His glory.
