October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and support for those affected.

For women, annual mammograms should begin at age 40. These screenings play a critical role in detecting breast cancer early, when it is most treatable. Your primary care provider will ensure you stay on schedule with these life-saving tests and provide personalized advice based on your health history and risk factors.

Staying proactive with your health is the key to a long, healthy life!

If you are a Maryland resident and do not have health insurance that covers breast cancer screening, please call the Maryland Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program at 410-778-7970 to see if you qualify for a no-cost mammogram. Early detection is your best protection!

Mental Health Matters

Helping to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month, observed each October, highlights the importance of mental health awareness, culminating in World Mental Health Day on October 10. This global event focuses on raising awareness about mental health issues and encourages individuals to seek help. With depression affecting millions, this initiative promotes the understanding that mental health is as crucial as physical health. These efforts empower individuals to share their experiences and prioritize their mental well-being.

By participating in screening programs, individuals gain insights into their mental health and connect with necessary support systems. This combined focus on screening and global awareness reminds us that mental health matters and that seeking help is a strength. Together, National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month and World Mental Health Day promote a culture of resilience and recovery, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive emotionally and psychologically.

WCHC Behavioral Health is currently accepting new patients for both in-person and telehealth medication management. We are currently on a waitlist for therapy services and are no longer accepting external referrals.
