Dear friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Sallie Abelson's death. Sallie, a beloved member of the Hillel team from 1998 to 2014, wasn't just our Director of Development; she was an alumna (class of '67), a mentor, and a dear friend to countless students and staff.

Among her many accomplishments, Sallie was the driving force behind our successful phonathon program, raising countless dollars to support vital Hillel initiatives. Sallie's impact went far beyond fundraising. Her unwavering commitment enriched our community and she taught us all that asking for support wasn't just a necessity, but a privilege born from a shared passion for nurturing Jewish student life in Ann Arbor.

I personally remember Sallie's infectious laugh, her love for family and friends, her ability to connect with donors on a deeply personal level, and her steadfast belief in the potential of every student. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of dedication and joy will continue to inspire us all.

May Sallie's memory be a blessing,

Rabbi Davey

Interim CEO
