MONTHLY NEWS FROM DREXEL UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES
Dean's Update: New Year, New Spaces
To start the New Year, students and faculty returned from the holiday break to find two newly defined library spaces that continue the Libraries' efforts to create learning environments for exploring information and data. One is in Hahnemann Library, while the other is in W.W. Hagerty Library's Bookmark Café, and both can be visited by members of Drexel's community.  The Hahnemann Library space on the first floor has been refreshed with new carpeting, paint and furnishings.  At W. W. Hagerty Library, we introduced a Data Visualization Zone - a dedicated portion of the Bookmark Café where students can explore and manipulate data displayed in visual forms.
New Data Visualization Zone
As students prepare to work in an increasingly digital world, libraries play a key role in providing access to information and data and in coaching members of the University community on new ways to engage with it. The Data Visualization Zone allows students to explore and experiment with data retrieval and visualization through a touch-screen monitor or projector.
Improvements to Hahnemann 24/7 Space
Over the last year the Libraries has worked with students to gather feedback on their use of space. The need for individual and focused study space was frequently noted and informed a renovation took place over the break. Improvements included new carpeting, paint and furniture to help create spaces for focused individual study.
Libraries 2015 Annual Report
Are you reading this at home, in your office or perhaps at a coffee shop? Look around. There are likely many distractions. In the Libraries, we are studying these distractions and other qualities of physical space and how they impact learning. We continue to evolve the Libraries to help Drexel students explore information in new and exciting ways. Learn more about the Libraries' efforts in the 2015 Annual Report.

Get it is Getting Better
One of the most common frustrations we hear about from our Libraries users - students and faculty alike - is the laborious, sometimes complicated process of moving from journal article citation, to Get It menu, to full text. The Libraries is implementing changes that will improve the process and make it easier to use on mobile devices.
