"Tech Overwhelm": Helping Nonprofits Get Ahead

Information Technology (IT): A weak spot for nonprofits

Tech is a major pain point of nonprofits. It is complex, expensive, and if not properly addressed, can leave big holes in the cybersecurity of the nonprofit, ultimately compromising the mission and reputation of the institution.

However, nonprofits are not alone! Tech experts who both believe in nonprofits and understand their troubles are here to take the pain away.

There are experts like Mike (a humble yet deeply connected advocate for nonprofits) who can be the connector we all need. Read about him below:

Mike Halperin

Mike walks the talk. He is the chair of the board at Habitat for Humanity in Nassau County, NY. He is a board member of the Nonprofit Cooperative. And, he was a board or committee member of Girls, Inc., the Spirit of Huntington Art Center, Inc., and the United Veterans Beacon House. Oh, and he also really understands how to help dozens of nonprofits get the support they need on the IT side: it is a major focus of his company's work. A Tip for Nonprofits: A case statement is the way to encapsulate what your mission, vision, values, and proposed impact will look like if donors join you on the journey. Here is a sample of a case statement that may get your wheels turning as it relates to how compelling it is: CCM-Case-for-Support-2018.pdf (canoemuseum.ca)

A Tip for Donors: What is your "Why"? Can you clearly articulate what kind of focus you have, what impact you want to make, on what issues? Do you and your family have such discussions in a substantive way? See this article from J.P. Morgan on the donor "Why": The first rule of philanthropy: Know your “why” | J.P. Morgan Private Bank (jpmorgan.com)

A Tip for Professional Advisors: Have you heard of 21/64? It is an amazing resource to develop and/or sharpen your skills as an advisor as it relates to deep and meaningful conversations with clients about their motivations for giving and helping them dig down in satisfying ways. See some interesting tools here: Picture Your Legacy® - 21/64 (2164.net)

Money is not the only commodity that is fun to give. We can give time, we can give our expertise, we can give our love, or simply give a smile. What does that cost? The point is, none of us can ever run out of something worthwhile to give.
