Can you believe we're through the first half of the year at Aspen Ridge? We're so grateful to everyone who contributed to the festive atmosphere at school this month through donated baked goods, coffee, cocoa, and treats; through time spent decorating doors or planning classroom parties; and through the many thoughtful gifts that were given to teachers and staff. Our students looked amazing in their Spirit Day outfits and our Elf on the Shelf (seen above) kept everyone guessing at where she would show up next. In addition to learning and growing, this month has been filed with warmth, laughter, and celebration, reminding us all why we love to be here at Aspen Ridge.
We hope your winter break is filled with joy, opportunities to recharge, and the simple pleasures of time spent with your favorite people. Happy holidays, Owl families!

January Signups for Owls' Nest

To keep our Owl community as safe as possible each day, please take extra care to drive slowly and be ready to stop at our crosswalks. Both within the parking lot and on Austin Avenue, students and parents use these crosswalks daily. We want them - and our staff member crossing guards - to be safe when using them.
Thank you for slowing down and watching closely for pedestrians and for staff members holding a stop sign. Together we can make our community safer!

Save the Date for Some Fun in the New Year! | |
Owl Watch is starting in January! | |

Our brand new Owl Watch program will be taking flight in January! This is a chance for our parents to join our safety team here at Aspen Ridge.
Owl Watch volunteers will sign up for shifts to walk through our halls, observe our daily safety practices, participate in drills (evacuation, lock down, shelter in place, etc.), and provide valuable feedback based on these observations. Volunteers will wear Owl Watch t-shirts that help our students recognize them as our awesome safety team members.
We'll have our first Owl Watch meeting on Friday, January 12th, at 8:30am for all volunteers who have signed up to join us. We'll share details on the program and a link to sign up for shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning January 16th.

Collecting Goods for the Gala! | |

We're gearing up for our 11th Annual Spring Gala - Casino Royale! Keep an eye out for Save the Dates for our school's biggest fundraiser of the year when we return from break!
In the meantime, as you receive packages over this next month, please consider saving styrofoam, air pack fillers, and any other packaging items that could help us build up our silent auction baskets. You can bring them to the Business Office after break. We would also love for everyone to keep an eye out (at home, on Facebook, etc.) for casino/gambling items (dice, cards, poker chips, etc.) or general décor items that could fit (or be painted to fit) our Casino Royale vibe. Items we're looking for include mirrors, cocktail shakers, fabric (red, black, or gold), crystals (to look like diamonds), martini glasses, etc. All borrowed items will have a sticker on the bottom so that they can easily be identified and returned.
