Celebrating MUSD School Administrators and National Principals Month

In recognition of Week of the School Administrator (October 8–14, 2023) and National Principals' Month of October, the MUSD Board of Education adopted Resolution 2024.16 Recognizing and Honoring our MUSD School Administrators, which was accompanied by a video tribute from some of our school site front office teams at the Oct. 10 meeting.

MHS students offer perspectives on Indigenous Peoples Day

Milpitas HS students from Ms. Parada-Reynoso's AP U.S. History Class shared their perspectives on the importance of recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day each year.

The MUSD Board of Education adopted Resolution 2024.15 Recognizing and Honoring October 9, 2023 as Indigenous Peoples Day.

2023 Great Mall Classroom Makeover Sponsors

Simon Property Group, Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, Milpitas Rotary Club and Milpitas HS alumna Dineen Simoni Anderson were honored by the MUSD Board of Education and District leadership for sponsoring the 2023-24 Great Mall Classroom Makeover, which gives $500 gift cards to 10 of our MUSD elementary educators to enhance the classroom experience for students.

MHS Code4Good club for impacting younger learners

MHS Code4Good Club Members, represented by club president Vidhi Patra, were recognized by the MUSD Board of Education and District leadership for continuing to expose our MUSD learners to coding, website development, data science, artificial intelligence and more through virtual and in-person workshops.

At the October 10 meeting, Superintendent Jordan shares weekly Attendance Rates, including CBEDS Day on October 4, as MUSD works toward its 97% district-wide goal for the 2023-24 year.

Highlights

Study Session: CAASPP test scores, student experiences

MUSD's Learning and Development were joined by select students and parents to present the 2022-2023 CAASPP results for Milpitas Unified School District as well as student and family experiences at the Oct. 10 meeting.

 

Results included 2022-2023 English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, as well as historical ELA and Math data disaggregated by student groups. This data is one of our annual measures and is connected to LCAP Goal 1: All MUSD students will receive standards-based instruction, curriculum, and assessments by highly qualified teachers in a safe environment to be fully prepared for college and career. Unduplicated students, Socioeconomic, Foster Youth, Homeless, English Learners, and Students with Disabilities will make accelerated growth to close the achievement gap.

Board approves final Measure AA bond issuance

The MUSD Board of Education approved the District's request to issue the third and final series of bonds under Measure AA in a principal amount not-to-exceed $59,000,000. The Bonds are being authorized for sale for the purpose of providing funds to finance projects approved by Measure AA and to pay the costs of issuing the Bonds. Weller Principal's Report highlights attendance initiatives

Weller Elementary School Principal Deanna Elzey shared this presentation showing the creative ways her team has boosted their school attendance rate from 92.8 to 96.4% so far for the 2023-24 school year.
