Acclaimed artist THUNDER JACKSON offers the opening salvo of an exciting new musical chapter with the March 8, 2024 release of his new single, “STEADY FREDDY” (out via VERO Music).
Described by Jackson as “an anthem to the resilience of the human spirit,” the track was produced by TAYLOR JOHNSON and PETE LAWRIE WINFIELD (Until the Ribbon Breaks, Run the Jewels) and mixed by Grammy and ARIA award winner ERIC J DUBOWSKY (Flume, St. Vincent, Dope Lemon). It showcases Jackson at his most charismatic and confident within an uptempo arrangement that leans heavily on organic sounds, a “necessary antidote to the plastic world we’re currently living in.”
“Steady Freddy” provides an intriguing preview of Jackson’s much-anticipated second full-length album, slated for release later this year. “This was the first song I wrote for this project and it’s a great introduction,” he says. The song, and the accompanying music video directed by JAROD EVANS (Mothica, Flaming Lips), address Jackson’s reclamation of self: “I’m not hiding behind glitter or flashy suits. I just want to be me.”
It’s a natural progression from the Oklahoma native’s 2020 debut album, THUNDER JACKSON, produced by Winfield and mixed by Grammy award winner ROB KINELSKI (Billie Eilish, King Princess, Joji). Despite being released seconds before COVID shut the world down, Jackon’s debut has amassed over 15M+ global streams and continues to find new fans, with listeners up almost 30% over the last year, thanks to the indelible appeal of viral hits “GUILTY PARTY” and “LOVE SICK DOCTOR”.
Jackson is planning to tour extensively in 2024, starting with an official showcase appearance at 2024’s SXSW Festival presented by CLASH Music. In the meantime, he is excited for the world to experience “Steady Freddy” – a song that he says represents a more direct approach to songwriting.
“There is now more room for people to hear themselves and their lives in these songs,” he says. “It is a far more communal experience. I cannot wait to share it all with the world.”
