Dear Partners, Supporters, and Community,

As we embark on the commencement of the Colorado State Legislative Session this week, we are excited to announce the revival of our weekly policy brief at Rocky Mountain Partnership (RMP). This brief is designed not only to keep you abreast of the latest legislation and policy developments impacting our priorities but also to empower you to take informed action and delve deeper into the legislative landscape.

In each edition, we'll provide comprehensive updates on policy and legislation impacting RMP's core priorities. Importantly, we'll also highlight opportunities for your engagement, ensuring you're in the know about key issues. Our focus goes beyond updates; we aim to provide education, awareness, and essential information. By doing so, we empower you with the information you need to take action that is most meaningful and impactful to your organization.

This week's edition serves as an introduction to RMP's role with policy, outlines our key priorities as a network, and provides a roadmap of what you can expect in the coming weeks. We are particularly excited to unveil our 2024 bill tracker, which will serve as a valuable resource to track and monitor legislation that aligns with our priorities.

We believe that an informed and engaged community is a powerful force for change. By staying connected through our weekly policy brief, you play a vital role in driving positive outcomes for this region.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to your active participation in shaping a future that aligns with our shared vision of an inclusive and prosperous region where every individual regardless of background or circumstance is on a pathway to economic and social mobility.

How RMP Engages in Policy Work

What is RMP's role around policy?

  • Identify Opportunities for Enhancing and Improving Policies: We identify opportunities by understanding the things that are most affecting community members' journeys to be economically and socially mobile, and where policy could help improve these things.

  • Equip Partners and Community with Data and Information: We gather data, assess impacts, and synthesize findings to equip our community with the knowledge they need for effective engagement. This includes conducting impact assessments to assess how policy will impact community members and the economy.

  • Provide Education and Awareness: We provide education and awareness, illuminating the information you need about policy and legislation impacting RMP's priorities. This includes mobilizing Civic Influencers to provide education and awareness to the wider community where needed.

  • Monitor Policy Impacts: We keep a watchful eye on the long-term impacts of policy, including uncovering unintended consequences.

  • Build Capabilities Around the Policy Process: We provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to partners and community members through our Institute to equip them with the skills and knowledge to understand the policymaking process and how they can engage in it.

RMPs Key Priorities

RMP has set an ambitious goal to ensure more individuals are on a pathway to economic and social mobility. This is in alignment with StriveTogether's national goal to put 4 million more young people, from birth to age 35, on a path to economic mobility by 2030.

Towards this, we are launching a 2030 Strategic Plan to guide us through the initial ‘Resiliency Phase’ of this goal, which aims to ensure at least 71,000 more people are on a path to economic and social mobility. This plan will be released at the end of this month.

In this plan, RMP is focused on the following priorities:
