President's Report

By Holly Lofton

Lindsborg CVB

As I write this short message to each of you, I am looking out the window at what is another dreary winter day. Do any of you feel that winter, after the holidays, seems to drag on for another 9 months?

Just this past Monday, as I sat in on a community Ad Hoc Roundtable meeting, I was reminded of how discouraging the month of January is to business owners that have become accustomed to the hustle and bustle of busy shops during the holiday season and the never ending calendar of events that seemingly comes to a standstill after Christmas. And, with this the seasonal worry about how and if they will be busy again. Then the reframe moment came. Someone mentioned that the earliest part of the year causes us to pause, to catch up, to project forward and to catch our breath. Is this season truly a gift to those of us that work in travel and tourism? Is this the reframe we also need? I think so.

My wish for each of you, this wintery day, is that you are refreshed. Take this time to breathe, to dream, and to catch up with the people that you haven’t had time for in the “too busy” season. Here’s to cheering each other on and to doing great things in 2024.

To the Stars!
