March is National Nutrition Month and this year's theme is "Beyond the Table," which addresses the farm-to-fork aspect of nutrition, from food production and distribution to navigating grocery stores and farmers markets. It also describes the various ways we eat and includes sustainability.

The Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) is encouraging members to check out the numerous partner resources and information on the Healthy Eating webpage and Chronic Disease webpage's Nutrition Resources.
Accessible Resources for Independence, in partnership with the Howard County Health Department, is pleased to offer the FREE Living Well in the Community Workshop Series.

The workshop will connect adults with disabilities and/or chronic disease with information and resources to help set personal health goals and build skills to support independent living.

Ideal candidates will:
  • Be an adult in Howard County.
  • Have a disability and/or chronic disease.
  • Have a desire to maintain or improve personal and community health.
  • Live in zip codes: 21044, 21045, 20763, 20794 or 20723.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released updated recommendations for how people can protect themselves from respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, Flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). This updated guidance applies to community settings. There are no changes to respiratory virus guidance for healthcare settings.

The updated guidance also includes additional considerations for people who are at higher risk of severe illness from respiratory viruses.

Coalition members are asked to check out and share the most recent recommendations from the Howard County Health Department's website: https://www.howardcountymd.gov/health
