Volunteers Needed!

Hello Rockwell Families!

Happy New Year and welcome back to school! Our January 2024 Scholastic Book Fair, in collaboration with our amazing Rockwell PTA, is fast approaching, so please add this to your calendar and get ready for some reading fun!

Book Fair Sales dates: We will be supporting student sales the week of January 16th, 2024. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will have opportunities to purchase items from the book fair during recess time. Then we will invite families to attend book fair the week of January 22nd, during teacher/parent conference week.

Flyers with detailed information and book fair highlighted titles will be going home with students this week. Please check your child’s backpack for this important update!

Families can also sign up for eWallet, which is a great way to put money in your child’s personal account and avoid the cash issue. Then students just tell us their name when they check out. To sign up, visit the Scholastic Rockwell Book Fair Homepage!

This annual tradition relies heavily on support from parent volunteers. Please consider signing up for a volunteer shift with this link. We especially need folks willing to help us set-up and break-down the book fair at the beginning and end of the session. Each day of the book fair we also need volunteers to work the registers, as our young readers buy books to add to their personal libraries (no experience necessary: we will train you on the easy cash register process).

Looking forward to seeing you all at Book Fair!

Happy Birthday Rockwell Staff!

ï»żWe need YOUR help to celebrate them properly on January 19

The Rockwell PTA will be hosting a staff luncheon on Friday, January 19th to collectively celebrate our staff birthdays for the year. The PTA will be providing the main entree, and we are asking parents/families to help us out by providing side dishes, drinks, and dessert. Please sign up below to help us out!

I'd love to help out!

Questions? contact volunteering@normanrockwellpta.org

Your PTA is thrilled to make a special announcement: this year we’ve partnered with Youth Theater Northwest for a never-before-seen-at-Rockwell production:

Cinderella, Rockin’ the 80’s!

ï»żApril 27, 2pm and 6pm

Special notice for our 4th and 5th grade parents: auditions for the Spring play are just around the corner! For those who don’t know, Rockwell’s Spring play is a long-standing community tradition. Kids who’ve grown up in the Rockwell community know that students CANNOT WAIT until they’re in 4th grade because it means they’re finally old enough to participate in the spring play. This year we’ve partnered with Youth Theater Northwest for an extra special production!

Please join us for a special parent information session on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00pm inside the Rockwell gym. All your burning questions about commitment, timing, logistics, etc. will be answered then. Parents who join us for that meeting will receive a link for early registration to the play (meaning those kiddos are guaranteed a spot in the play). Early registration for the play will take place January 22-January 28. Open registration will run January 29th â€“ February 2nd. This year’s registration fees are the same as last year: $215. Auditions are tentatively scheduled for February 7th and 8th.

We are still looking for a few 4th grade parents willing to take on leadership roles with this year’s production (if you join the leadership team, your child is guaranteed a spot in the play!)

If you’d like to join the leadership team, or if you have questions about the upcoming parent information session, please email rockwellplay2024@gmail.com

As always, your PTA is committed to ensuring that ALL children are able to participate in PTA sponsored activities, regardless of any financial hardships your family might be experiencing. We have scholarships available to cover registration fees for families who cannot otherwise afford the $215 cost. Please email our school counselor, Ms. Keller, if you’d like to use a scholarship for the registration fee. Her email is kkeller@lwsd.org

Save the Date!

Rockwell STEAM Night

Thursday, February 1, 2024 6:00-8:00 pm at Rockwell Gym

Rockwell PTA's STEAM Night is coming and we welcome the entire Rockwell Elementary community to explore all things science, engineering, art, and math!

Come for an evening filled with hands-on activities from local businesses. Build a light-up wand and binary code keychain led by our very own parent volunteers and earn a chance to win 1 of 3 grand prizes. Beagles, let's buckle up and STEAM ahead for an evening of exploration and discovery!

Questions or if you'd like to help? Please contact Janet Vuong (STEAM Night Chair) at fundraising@normanrockwellpta.org.
