Indian Trails Middle School Students Have an UnBEElievable Learning Experience
At Indian Trails Middle School, Mrs. Miller's Sustainable Living 1 classes took a trip to the Black Hammock Bee Farm.
Students learned all about bees and how they help in the pollination of gardens and make delicious honey! They were able to taste 5 different kinds of honey made by the thousands of bees on the farm.
In addition, they had fun dressing like beekeepers. They had an incredible trip filled with learning!

Lake Brantley High Air Force JROTC Explores Latest Industry Trends and Career Opportunities
12 AFJROTC cadets from Lake Brantley took a field trip to the Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (ITSEC) at the Orange County Convention Center.
Students learned about the latest modeling and simulation technology, computers, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers. Their favorite simulators were the parachute, helicopter pilot, and aerial refueling. We love helping our students get first-hand experience in industry trends and careers.

Seminole High Students Take Home Honors from Model UN Competition at Princeton
In a previous issue of the Seminole Spotlight, we shared that Seminole High students were heading to a Model UN Competition at Princeton University.
We wanted to share an update and congratulate our students on a job well done. They represented Seminole County Public Schools very well.
- Aryan Save received a verbal commendation
- Gabriela Gongora-Rosales and Mihir Kelkar received recognition for best position paper
- Rishab Suresh and Sri Kolimi both received honorable delegate
During that same weekend, a larger group of the SHS delegation attended the UCF KnightMUN competition and also had a wonderful showing with several students taking home best delegate and Seminole High School receiving the distinction of Outstanding Delegation.
These students will also have the chance to compete at the UF GatorMUN competition and the Georgetown University NAIMUN competition in Washington DC later this year.

Founder of Vibrant Families Wins State Award for Positive Impact on SCPS Students
Kenneth Clark, founder of Vibrant Families was named the Margie Davidson Leading Light Award recipient for 2023 for his work with SCPS students.
This award was established in 2003 in honor of Margie Davidson, from St. John’s County, and recognizes the “shining lights” in our community who support K-12 public education.
"Our purpose is to mentor at-risk & and fatherless young men with a focus on education and introduction to new experiences. We remain dedicated to building brighter futures for young men across our communities."
We are so thankful for the way Mr. Clark and his dedicated mentors are investing in life-changing work right here in our district. Congratulations on this well-deserved award.

Local Community's Turkey Trot Benefits Markham Woods Middle School
We want to say a special thank you to the residents of Magnolia Plantation. Together, they donated several items for Markham Woods Middle School students in need during their annual turkey trot. We are so thankful for their thoughtfulness and support for their local school community. We love Seminole County because of the incredible generosity and the heart our community members have when they surround our schools with support.

Middle and High School Magnet Options Application Window Closes TODAY | |
The 2024-2025 application period for Middle and High School magnet programs closes today, December 1, 2023.
Come explore all of the options your child has for middle or high school magnet programs. If your child is passionate about pursuing healthcare, engineering, graphic design, IB programs, or a number of other career fields, this is their opportunity to meet the faculty and learn more about programs onsite!
As a champion for choice, Seminole County Public Schools is an open enrollment district, and we provide transportation at no cost to families for their children to participate in magnet programs.

PAWS & CLAUS Event
Jingle paws, jingle paws, jingle all the way!
Drop by Seminole County Animal Services' first-ever Paws & Claus event this Saturday, December 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Lakes Park in Lake Mary. Bring your furry friend for a photo with Santa Claus, available for a donation.
Animal Services and local rescue groups will also have several available animals to adopt, featuring pets of all breeds and sizes.

READING PAWS: Read to a dog! Young readers can gain confidence and practice fluency by reading out loud to a trained therapy dog.
