How we determine our Households Served strategic goal

Over the past two years, CHFA has had the goal of increasing Black and African American homeownership by 25 percent. While we did not achieve this goal, the work continues, and the goal remains! In 2024, we hope to help 635 Black and African American households achieve homeownership.

This year we will be counting any borrower and/or coborrowers who self-identify as “Black or African American” when completing their mortgage application. In addition, we will incorporate our indirect investments—our support for community-focused programs—including the Dearfield Fund for Black Wealth, FirstBank’s PATH Grant program, Elevations Community Land Trust’s Doors program, and organizations awarded Direct Effect funds that directly support Black and African American homeownership. We support these programs because we believe that partnership and multiple resources are keys to addressing the homeownership disparity in Colorado.

Through community engagement, CHFA and stakeholders recommended the following strategic pillars to address homeownership equity.
