From the Director
Greetings Madrone Trail Parents and Families,
I participated in my first Lantern Walk on Thursday, and really enjoyed the ceremony, music, and ritual of the event. The 3rd grade assembly on Friday was also very well done by Ms. Cohen and the Willow Class students. There are so many moments of beauty at Madrone Trail.
This week, representatives from the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education were on site conducting a review in order to move us to full accreditation as a Public Waldorf school. They visited classrooms and met with parents, faculty, the Board of Directors, and students. They were very complimentary of our school, and we should have a full report soon.
We’d like to welcome two classroom assistants to The Madrone Trail Community. Shelly Reese will be assisting the 1st grade Ladybug classroom, and Willow Tucker will be assisting the Rosebud Kindergarten classroom. They have both already started this week, and will be great additions to our team. Welcome to both of them.
I hope you all have a nice three day weekend, thank you for sending your kids to Madrone Trail.
With Gratitude,
Andy Bracco
Director

Jog-a-thon Update
We have received a little over $19,600 in pledges so far! We have collected around $15,000 of those pledges already. If you haven't turned in your pledge sheet yet, it's not too late! Get it to Ms. Cori or your child's class teacher whenever you can.
Reminder: Jog-a-thon pledges can be paid in cash, checks made out to MTPCS, or paid online through the link on our website, madronetrail.org/donate (PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, credit/debit cards accepted) or by using the QR Code on the Jog-a-thon pledge form. If you are using the online payment option or writing a check you can pay for more than one student in a single transaction/check, just include all jogger's names and the amount going to each child if not split evenly.
If you have any questions or having any difficulty with the link, please contact Ms. Cori, cori.royer@madronetrail.org. Thanks for supporting our school!

Meal Program and Farm to School Update
Farm to School Committee Meeting
Tuesday, November 12 at 3:30 pm in the Handwork room
A Little Bit of Gratitude!
I know that Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away… still I can’t help but share some thoughts of gratitude with you (we should be grateful year-round, right?)
I am so grateful first and foremost to our students… When we launched the meal program, I assumed students would be more or less neutral about having meals prepared on-site. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The excitement, joy, and appreciation we see every day as kitchen staff keeps us waking up in the morning to cook oatmeal, scramble eggs, and flip quesadillas. When a student shares “thank you for this delicious food, see you next week” (an actual quote from today), my heart melts and I feel invigorated. Students are the most honest and appreciative customers, and the reason we do what we do. We never lose sight of our mission because they don’t allow it.
I am also incredibly grateful to our amazing teachers and admin staff. There is so much collaboration and attention to detail regarding the program that happens behind the scenes. I am constantly astounded by the time and support you provide on top of the many other priorities you juggle. I could go on forever about how amazing you are!
We would be lost in this endeavor without our amazing board of directors! To have an amazing team of talented folks who care deeply about our school and give an immense amount of their personal time in service of Madrone Trail is a blessing. They are the unsung heroes of the lunch program. Whether good times or bad, I have always been met with an overabundance of support and encouragement and can’t thank you enough!
Parents! Thank you so much for entrusting us with your children’s nutritional needs. Besides serving your students, the best part of my day is the high-fives in the parking lot and words of appreciation as we pass each other in the office… Your feedback, positive and otherwise, pushes us forward and keeps us accountable.
Last, but definitely not least… our kitchen staff is absolutely remarkable. They are dedicated, hardworking, and talented to say the least. Please do me a favor and thank them when you see them in passing… they will show up every day regardless, but a little bit of gratitude goes a long way! I am commended every day for what they do. Plus, they’d probably hold it against me and call out on Tuesday if I didn’t give them props.
Thank you Madrone Trail! I am so very grateful for and to our wonderful school.
Oven & Menu Update
Barring any unforeseen complications, our replacement oven will be installed on Sunday! We expect to resume with Taco Bowl Tuesday but please note that quesadillas may be served as a back-up. Because we are so close to the Thanksgiving holiday and moving to our winter menu thereafter, we will no longer be serving our Swedish sausages on Wednesday. Please expect only delicious soup and sandwich options on Wednesday until further notice!
Specials – November 12-15
Sandwich: Waldorf Chicken Salad on Multigrain Bread (mayo based with grapes, sunflower seeds, celery and red onion)
Soup: Chicken & Wild Rice (Chef Clinton’s slow-simmered chicken bone broth with an abundance of fresh herbs and hearty veggies)
A Note About Soup & Sandwich Specials
Sandwich and soup specials each week are “while supplies last." They often feature items that are more costly or we don’t stock on a regular basis.
GENERAL PROGRAM INFO
If you missed the last updates with general information about the program, including snack policy and EZ app, please see the Friday Update from August 23.

From the Athletic Director
Boys’ Basketball had their first games this week. I was unable to attend as I am still dealing with quite a bit of pain from my first surgery and the healing has been slow. Thanks for the emails of best wishes and meals that Madrone put together, they have meant a lot. Special thanks to my interventionist partner, Ms. Suzanne, for delivering things to my home and checking in on me frequently. Also, special thanks to the 4th grade class (My daughter’s class) for the cards they made. They were so awesome and some of them made me laugh really hard. I love our Madrone community.
