Nebraska Extension
Nebraska Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) has made a measurable difference in the health and wellness of adults and children through their programs.
Just this year, NEP presented hands-on, interactive educational programs in over 400 classrooms and community partner sites and taught over 250 adults and 200 youth. NEP's childcare center efforts resulted in ten sites adopting healthier policies and practices, impacting over 1,000 children.

Staying Healthy This Fall, Winter
It’s autumn. In other words, it’s virus time.
RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is getting a lot of attention this year. If you’re wondering what it is and what you should do about it, check out our latest Health and the City column in the Lincoln Journal Star with information from the Mayo Clinic, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Lung Association.
Is it as dangerous and lethal as the flu and COVID can be? See the comparison in our column, cowritten with LNKTV Health.

Malone Center's Maternal Wellness initiative offers a wealth of programs with a focus on decreasing Black infant and maternal mortality by increasing breastfeeding rates through education, empowerment, support, and improving access to health resources.
As an example, Malone’s recent Milk Share program that facilitates the sharing of breastmilk has seen incredible success since its launch in February this year, delivering almost 3,000 oz. of breastmilk in their Milk Share van.
Additionally, Malone hosted several outreach events highlighting Black Breastfeeding week including their highly successful annual Birth & Baby Fair.

Cost for the COVID vaccine, tests
Private insurance companies are mandated to cover this vaccine with no copay but insurers are no longer required to pay for “out-of-network”.
For uninsured or underinsured adults, CVS/Walgreens are required by federal law to cover the vaccine at no cost thanks to the new Bridge Program. Vaccines for Children cover all kid’s vaccines, not just COVID, for those that cannot pay.
Households can receive 4 free COVID rapid tests through USPS again. Order here: COVIDtests.gov. Shipments will start Oct. 2.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.
We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease. Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
