We met so many Wonderful & interesting people from all over the world everywhere we went. Travel opens us to the world and is a powerful reminder of how we are divinely connected to each other. We delighted in the cultural uniqueness & marveled at many similarities we shared with others from other countries. We loved sharing conversations with many of the locals and were most grateful for their ability to speak some English. It was fascinating to hear about their life stories & experiences.
Travel also invited us to grow in awareness & spaciousness. With travel comes many details & lots of "schlepping." It helped us to grow in awareness, tolerance, patience & spaciousness.
Our travel also helped us to be open to whatever experiences presented themselves and again, the innate kindness of others! Especially during some unexpected challenges.
Accidentally, we left some backpacks & shoes in the back of a taxi & lovely hotel employees & the taxi driver graciously coordinated efforts to safely return our items;
We met up with dear friends and traveled with them for part of our trip. On one day, our friend realized as we left on a train that she accidentally left a small bag on a train platform. Two different wonderful people ( one man from Puerto Rico & two women from France-one after the other), watched over our friend’s bag and waited for our friend to return to ensure she got it back. Again, the extraordinary kindness & generous spirit of others;
Another time, a phone was left on a bench outside a shop and folks from Norway found it & worked with us to return it promptly.
Whenever mishaps or unexpected circumstances arose, we tried to Pause, Breathe, Open and Relax. ( “PBOR”). This was not always my/our initial response! Yet, the more we practiced, the better we became at surrendering to what was transpiring in the moment. To practice allowing life rather than trying to orchestrate it. To see and experience life more clearly on life’s terms rather than on our terms. And that’s where awareness expands and moments of acceptance, ease, gratitude and peace can manifest for each of us. Travel truly helps us to expand our capacity to sit with and move through discomfort & observe it's resolution.
"PBOR" is a simple and profound practice each of us can do on a daily basis, moment by moment when we need to come back to our innate peace and contentment. Truly, this is what our yoga, breath & meditation practices invite us to do. It is especially valuable to navigate challenges but also during ease & enjoyable times to be as fully present and engaged with what is occurring as much as we can.
Witnessing the majesty of the mountains or the magnificent sunrises & sunsets over the sea invites us to grow in awareness, wake up more & realize each experience originates from emptiness, exists & then dissolves like clouds in the sky. We can’t control it or lengthen any life experience-even the ones we enjoy and don't want to end. As Jack Kornfield reminds us “nothing can be repeated, all experiences are impermanent.” Our invitation is to live each experience as much as we can one at a time.
We feel deeply Grateful, Nourished, Replenished, Renewed, Inspired & ready to be of Service to you! We are most Grateful to our community of clients & students and for your spaciousness of our trip, to Jessica Montagna for skillfully guest-teaching; and to our family who lovingly cared for our sweet dog Shantz while we were away. We look forward to be of service and to connect with you soon!
