Celebrating Our Collective Triumphs!

At the heart of CAN lies the essence of community - a collective force propelling us towards our mission year after year. It's the symbiotic relationship between the families we stand beside, the incredible volunteers and dedicated staff, our steadfast donors and supporters, the individuals who passionately share about CAN in conversation, the foundations who bring our proposals to life, and the partners who help to multiply CAN's impact.

As we head into 2024 very soon, we want to reflect on all we have accomplished together. The stories we will be sharing this month remind us that it truly takes a whole community to ensure our neighbors are taken care of and supported. When you read the stories, please know that YOU are a vital part of these tangible outcomes!

We heard from one of our beloved Bryant community members on his experience using the Bryant Market. Be sure to read what he has to say below!

CAN food distributions and emergency pantries offer fresh, nutritious groceries to our neighbors in need. This year, between all 6 CAN Markets, we saw a record-breaking 16,000+ visits (that's a 48% increase from last year!) and

distributed over 773,231 pounds of food!

Our Bryant Market, which distributes food Monday through Friday in partnership with Food Gatherers, is Washtenaw County's largest food distribution! The need for food assistance continues to rise, and that's evident at the Bryant Market, which sees over 130 households on any given day.

Timothy James tells us his thoughts on the Bryant Market... We're honored, and maybe even blushing!

"I am and was in some very tough times financially when the Pandemic first broke out. That is when I was recommended by my local VA office to sign up for the Bryant Center's Food Pantry. I was unable to drive and awaiting a Social Security Disability claim when I first signed up for their service. They immediately assessed my situation over the phone and within days I had a pantry food delivery which my household really needed. Not only was that delivery very timely but I thought it was also super plentiful and very generous. I was quite taken back and surprised, in a very good way, by the variety of fresh meats, produce, staple can goods and a whole slew of other food and snack items that was brought to my household that first delivery. I was really blown away.

Now; I have been getting deliveries from The Bryant Center ever since and they show up like clockwork for my particular household every week. In the past I had partook in varied other food pantries in the Washtenaw area and although I have always appreciated any assistance that was available for my needs, none have compared to the Bryant Centers in Quality, Great Variety of staple foods and also very much in quantity of the items brought to us on a regular basis. They have really really helped my household in some very tight times. I am finally receiving Social Security benefits but am still awaiting a Disability claim that seems to be taking forever. But with the Bryant Centers assistance I am able to at least pay all of my bills now and looking forward to better times to come financially. One of my future goals is to buy a nice EV vehicle and to look into voluteering my time perhaps by doing deliveries for local services that have helped so many people in our area. I will accomplish that goal!

So to wrap all of this up; Let me just say "Thanks A Million Bryant Community Center!!!" You have helped my household immensly and I will always hold a debt of gratitude for all your assistance and support over these past years! You will be #1 on my list to volunteer my services when I finally get my 1st EV!"

Thanks Again;
