We thank you for all of the incredible work you've done this year making a real difference in Virginia's communities. We know how much you truly care about the individuals and families in your region. We appreciate the commitment of your staff, partners, and volunteers to make Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
2023 has been quite a year! This year saw the launch of several new initiatives, including a Diaper Distribution program, Broadband expansion program, extensive EITC outreach, and a VIBES project. A new Reaching Independence through Savings and Education (RISE) program is in the works currently. And of course, the Whole Family Approach truly began to make an impact in Virginia with our pilot program participants seeing some remarkable results!
We also heard so many fantastic client success stories in 2023. Thanks to all of you who sent us your stories and updates throughout the year! We've been highlighting these great stories on LearnWorlds as well as publishing some of them in special collateral materials distributed at training conferences and special events. Also thanks to your input, we were able to create a new searchable database on the Virginia Department of Social Services intranet site for state and local DSS agency staff to utilize when tasked with finding services for community members.
We were also thrilled to leave the virtual monitoring process behind which began during the pandemic and move to a hybrid monitoring system. While primary monitoring occurs regularly virtually, file review occurs in person now.
In 2023, the OEO also presented 29 workshops and training sessions for agencies across the Commonwealth throughout the year on topics from Strategic Planning to Trauma Informed Care. We had more than 100 unique people participate in trainings during the year!
