TTC Bloor Yonge updates

Project/construction updates

Request for Proposals Issued to Shortlisted Teams for Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project

The TTC has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements project (BYCI).

Qualified teams were shortlisted through a Request for Pre-qualification (RFPQ) process conducted last year and are now invited to respond to the RFP.

The teams will submit their proposals later this year, and the TTC expects to award the contract by the end of 2024. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

Utility Relocations on Bloor Street East

Hydro and sewer utilities along Bloor Street East are being relocated to allocate space for the future expanded Bloor-Yonge Subway Station footprint, including a new Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) passenger platform and expanded Line 1 platforms.

  • No impacts to subway service at Bloor-Yonge Station are expected during preparatory construction works. Access to the station will remain open.

  • Sewer relocation work has been substantially completed with some restoration work remaining.

  • While this work is scheduled for daytime hours, some work will be required overnight. More information on current construction work is available here.

  • Additional daytime weekend work is scheduled on Bloor Street East for May 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26. Weekend work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled.

TTC and partners unveil Sherlock Holmes Walk mural at Toronto Reference Library

Scenes of mystery and intrigue were recently unveiled on the east side of the Toronto Reference Library, with the installation of artwork along Sherlock Holmes Walk.

The mural, themed “It’s a Mood”, depicts the life, writing, and characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and was developed in partnership with the City of Toronto’s StreetARToronto (StART) program, the Toronto Public Library (TPL) and the Friends of the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection.

The mural was installed on hoarding at 830 Church St. beside the Toronto Reference Library that was recently put up due to construction for the TTC’s Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project. The site will be home to a future fan building to enhance air circulation at the newly renovated station.
