Dean's Update: Welcome Back!

It is an exciting and busy time in the Libraries as we start the new academic year. Only a few days into the term and already our libraries were filled with students working at computers and a few reading print books. The intensity of Drexel students continues to impress me. It is like none other I have experienced, even in the large research libraries of the big state universities and elite private colleges where I spent my former years as a library administrator.

VISUALIZING DATA: GIS SYSTEMS & LIBRARIES
Wondering which Philadelphia zip code has the lowest number of residents with smartphones? Geographic [or Geospatial] Information Systems - GIS - offer ways to answer this question and to conduct research based on evidence available from a wide variety of statistical sources. GIS is one of the newer types of information systems where Drexel librarians have expertise.

Nancy Bellafante, Librarian for Undergraduate Learning, was selected to participate in the distinguished Information Literacy Immersion Program sponsored by the Association of College and Research Libraries.

MANAGING LIBRARY RESERVES, Q & A WITH KATHERINE FISCHER, ACCESS SERVICES LIBRARIAN FOR RESERVES
Katherine and her team are responsible for helping all of Drexel's faculty members seamlessly provide access to their course reserve materials online through Blackboard Learn or physically at the nearest library location.
