CPUC Broadband Videos and Last Mile Grants Reminder
New Broadband Video Series. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has a new broadband video series that introduces important economic, technical, and policy concepts. View these vignettes, along with other broadband resources, on the CPUC’s Broadband Caseworker website under White Papers and More.
Last Mile Grant Window Closes September 29. The CPUC’s Last Mile Federal Funding Account is accepting applications through September 29, 2023, at 4 p.m. This fund provides $2 billion in grants for last mile broadband infrastructure projects to connect unserved Californians with high-speed broadband internet. Applications will only be accepted through the CPUC’s Broadband Grant Portal, an online gateway that allows applicants to link projects designed in the CPUC’s Applicant Tool.
Additional Resources for Last Mile Grant Applicants. The Last Mile Federal Funding Account program website includes helpful Applicant Resources and the Federal Funding Account Public Map for identifying unserved locations, equity information, and planned middle-mile fiber construction. Recent August 1, 2023 California Department of Technology (CDT) middle-mile updates are part of the Federal Funding Account Public Map and are also on the CDT Statewide Middle-Mile Network Map.
