GGUSD Students Engaged in Summer Learning

It was a busy summer at GGUSD schools! More than 9,400 students in preschool through twelfth grade participated in our Summer Learning Programs offered at 22 campuses across the district.

Schools Are Ready to Welcome Families Back to a New Year

GGUSD schools have been hosting a variety of events designed to welcome new and returning students and their families back to school. It's gearing up to be an exciting 2023-24 school year with our outstanding teachers and staff ready to provide students with awesome classroom and campus experiences as well as new and expanded Extended Learning Programs to ensure students have opportunities to get help in the content areas where they need it most! At our 67 school campuses, students can attend a vast array of before and after school interventions, enrichments, tutoring and mentoring programs. 

GGUSD Celebrates Campus Improvements and New Athletic Facilities

Over the summer, GGUSD's Facilities team was hard at work on a multitude of campus improvement projects including new playground installations, field lighting, a/c installation in the intermediate school locker rooms, portable classroom installations, resurfacing, and the completion of a 2-story classroom building at Garden Grove High School and three state-of-the-art track and fields at Los Amigos, Rancho Alamitos and Santiago high schools.

5,000+ Teachers and Staff Sharpen Skills over Summer

Our teachers and staff just wrapped up Super Week, five days of back-to-back professional development workshops, and are re-energized and enthusiastically ready to begin the new year with engaging instructional strategies designed to support the academic needs of ALL students! More than 5,100 GGUSD employees took part in 186 different workshops to sharpen their skills across a multitude of content areas.

GGUSD Welcomes Staff Back with Keynote Event

GUSD hosted its annual Keynote Event to welcome staff back to the 2023-2024 school year with special performances by our talented high school students and presentations from Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and district assistant superintendents who highlighted our district initiatives and successes around our three district goals (academic skills + personal skills = lifelong success). The excitement for the new school year was palpable and we cannot wait to welcome students back on Monday, August 14.
