From the Desk of Mr. Marty Van Hulle, Principal
SAL Parents:
Happy 2024! It is my sincere hope that all had a great Christmas Holiday and that your new year has gotten off to a good start! With the turning of the calendar, we begin to look ahead to the 2024-25 school year. On Sunday, January 28 (10:00 – 1:00), we will host our annual Open House. Open House provides a great opportunity for us to showcase all the terrific offerings we have at SAL and to welcome new families. Current families are encouraged to attend to support new families and to meet their teachers for the upcoming school year. We are looking for volunteers to assist with Open House so if you are interested and available, the link to volunteer is here .
With regard to the 2024-25 school year, we are awaiting some dates from the Archdiocese to finalize our school calendar; however, we do have some dates established for next year. The first student day will be Wednesday, August 21. Because of the late arrival of Easter in 2025 (April 20), we will host a Spring Break from March 22 – 30, 2025. This time frame aligns with the area public schools and allows us to break up the long stretch between Christmas and Easter. During Easter week, we will have an early release day on Thursday, April 17 and return to school on Tuesday, April 22. Once the Arch communicates their calendar for next year, we will finalize ours and distribute it shortly thereafter.
And while there is information about SCRIP included below, we wanted to make sure to highlight the tremendous success of the program this year. In December alone, SCRIP sales topped $25,000 with $1,250 coming back to us in the form of rebates. And since July, there have been sales in excess of $70,000 with rebates nearing $5,000. Thank you to all who are purchasing SCRIP and to Ashley Knutson, Ashley Packee, and Laura Swenson for getting SCRIP up and running once again and for their outstanding efforts in providing a resource that benefits us all– great work!!
Have a great week ahead and God bless,
M. Van Hulle
Principal, SAL

Inclement Weather Protocols
As you may know, the forecast for tomorrow calls for some potentially challenging weather.
As a result, there are 3 possibilities as it relates to hosting school when inclement weather is forecast:
- School occurs as normal.
- School is cancelled for the entire day.
- School is dismissed early due to worsening road conditions.
And while option 3, dismissing early, doesn’t happen very often, please know that this is not out of the realm of possibility.
Because our bus route is the first run of the afternoon for our bus companies, if **Kettle Moraine decides to close early, this would mean we would be dismissing students ahead of the normal end time. The timing of early dismissal is dependent upon road conditions and can vary; however, we wanted to provide you with the possibility that this could in fact occur so that proper arrangements can be considered for pickup.
**Decisions about school closures are made by the Superintendents of School in the surrounding area and our closing/early dismissal procedures mirror the Kettle Moraine School District.
Obviously, if school is cancelled or if we dismiss early, there will be no after school activities or EDC.
Please know that situations such as this are always fluid and that things could rapidly change.
As a result, IF there is a change in the normal operating procedures, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Registration 2024-25

The envelope will include a copy of the proposed 24-25 tuition fee document (to keep) and the 2023 registration fee tax letter.
