Frances Perkins Traveling Exhibit

February 1 - 15, 2024

Southwest Harbor Public Library

One of our winter classes will tell the story of Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945. She is widely recognized as a driving force behind the New Deal, most notably for the policies that created Social Security, the forty-hour work week, overtime pay, unemployment insurance, workplace safety standards and a ban on child labor.

In conjunction with the class, we have arranged to show the traveling exhibit from the Frances Perkins Center. These 6 large panels will be on display at the Southwest Harbor Public Library for the first two weeks of February. Whether you are taking the class or not, don't miss this opportunity to learn about this extraordinary woman.

Weather Cancellation Policy

“Acadia Senior College cancels events and classes when the MDI schools close for snow or weather events. When a delay occurs, ASC also cancels events or classes that start within the delay time period.”

This means that if there is a two-hour school delay, ASC morning classes will be cancelled, but afternoon classes will still be held unless otherwise instructed. (Some in-person classes may elect to hold a cancelled class by Zoom.)

Please visit midrss.net for school announcements.
