September 2023 Newsletter

A Message From Leah Flach

Our President

Welcome Back WWC Members and Friends!

We are so glad you are back from a busy summer filled with travel, family and many of you, grandchildren.

September is a new year for us, full of possibilities and great opportunities. There are new friends to know, fun experiences to share and the joy of exploring new adventures ahead. There are luncheons planned with unique activities and carefully selected speakers.

Your board has been busy planning and getting ready for the new year. These ladies put in so much time and effort to ensure all luncheons and event details are in order. Remember, they are all volunteers. Please thank them or give them a hug when you see them.

Many events are being planned: the Gala in December, the Spring Bus Trip, the Fashion Show and monthly luncheons. Our year is off to an exciting start! Please look at the website or in the booklets at the luncheons for ways to connect. With many different, small groups to offer activity choices, there is a special way for each of you to connect. WWC is about connecting and empowering women. We are building a legacy together through relationships.Without you, our club would not be possible. Thank you for being a part of WWC. I can’t wait to create memories on our journey together this year!

Community Update

Karen Toth & Gabriella Pietrafitta

Hi Ladies!

Hope you all are bearing this very hot summer!!

Looking forward to beautiful fall weather and another year of getting together for a new and exciting year! I’d like to thank Mary Beth Cristinziano for the opportunity to work with her last year and look forward to work with Gabriella Pietrafitta this year.

Our community focus for  September will be “Back to School Supplies”. Many children are starting back to school with little, if any school supplies. When you’re out and about, or while you’re picking up supplies for your own children, if you would, could you pick up some extra notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, etc.

We will then deliver them to Wake Ed Partnership “Tools 4 Schools” drop off locations.

Our next meeting in October will be an extra special treat. We will be collecting kitchen supplies or donations for “Aging out Foster Children." We will also be privileged to have a guest speaker at the luncheon to inform us of this wonderful project.

We were very successful with our year long projects.. We will continue to support the Tri-Area Ministries Food Pantry with donations collected at our monthly luncheons. We will happily deliver can goods from your pantry or will be passing the "Egg Box" around to the tables at the luncheon.

The other charity we would like to continue to support on a monthly basis is InterAct. This organization is dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in Wake County. InterAct accepts new and gently used donations of women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.

For more information or InterAct and to view what they can an cannot accept, visit their website.

Looking forward to a great year!

Directory News

Deidri Ottesen

We are busy putting together the 2023/2024 Directory! If you would like to assist in some way please don’t hesitate to contact Deidri Ottesen at wwclub.directory@gmail.com

The production of our Directory is highly dependent upon advertisers. If you know of a business that may be interested in advertising in our Directory please let Deidri know.

We are also requesting headshots! Someone will be taking photos at the September luncheon but you are welcome to email a headshot to the same email address above. Since the directory is printed we need a high-resolution photo of you. If you’re not sure about the size just reach out to Deidri.

The Fitness Group is continuing, be sure to try some new fun types of fitness that Karen is creating for us(no commitment is needed). Also, be on the lookout for some Once & Done Activities that are being explored; and if you have an idea for a quick local event that 5-15 of us might enjoy please reach out to Mary Beth so she can explore details, etc. or let me know and I will pass along the idea. As you can see, we have so many ways to get involved in addition to the monthly luncheons. Just jump in! We do need a coordinator for the Canasta group. If you like playing that game consider stepping up to lead it and let me know. Thank you all for getting involved and for all the coordinators of the groups!!

Hospitality Reminder

from

Janice Press and Joann Luft

Hello ladies and welcome to the 2023-2024 Season of the WWC! Please check in at The Hospitality Table, prior to going into the Monthly Luncheon Meeting, so I can introduce myself (Janice Press). I will be taking on the New Hospitality Board Position for the WWC beginning in September or October depending upon knee replacement surgery and my recuperation.  JoAnn Luft will be assisting me with our Hospitality efforts, so please be sure to say hello to her as well. It is our responsibility to take attendance at these monthly meetings and to secure an accurate headcount with the Club staff. It is also our responsibility to have printed name tags available for all members attending. These nametags will need to be returned to one of us after each Luncheon Meeting. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter and thank you to the outgoing Hospitality volunteers, Diane Ellis, Laurel Davis and Melissa Speranza for helping to make this a smooth transition.

Best, janice and joann
