As this newlsetter comes out, summer is in full swing and I hope you are enjoying family, friends and activities. Our fall classes begin later this month and the Events Committee is busy scheduling Food for Thought presentations starting in September.


We are also looking forward to the inaugural lecture in The Dorothy and Jim Clunan Lecture series on Cultural Understanding and World Affairs - see below. We hope you can join us.

Through a glass darkly: Contours of the

Coming International Order in Light of the Russian War on Ukraine

Anne Clunan, PhD


The inaugural lecture in The Dorothy and Jim Clunan Lecture Series on Cultural Understanding and World Affairs will be held Wednesday, September 20th at 5:00 p.m. at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. Reception to follow.


Anne is an Associate Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, California, and a Faculty Affiliate at the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University. 

Food for Thought

Our Fall Food for Thought lunch and presentation series returns in September. The first perentation will be on September 22nd. Val Libby will talk about her mother's experience as a British Army nurse near the front lines in North Africa and Italy during WWII.

Winter Course Proposals Due

Have an idea for a course?


We encourage you to propose a course based on your professional careers, personal interests, or passions!


No prior teaching experience is required and topics might range from academic subjects in literature, history, the sciences, or arts, to sports, games, dancing, or practical skills from photography to food.


Course proposals for the Winter 2024 term are

due Monday, September 25th.


Teaching for Acadia Senior College is rewarding and fun! You will meet new people and undoubtedly learn from your students as well. Plus, all instructors are entitled to one free class for each course taught. Share your passion - if you have an idea for a class, a special skill, or knowledge you would like to share, please consider teaching a class.

Storage Space Needed


Do you have a small storage space that you would be willing to share with Acadia Senior College? We are looking for an area approximately 4' x 8' and at least 6 feet tall that is at ground level and relatively easy to access. We have a small amount of equipment such as a TV on a rolling stand, two amplifiers, projectors and screens, and some supplies.
