News & Notes from Fr. Pete Jankowski

Have a Blessed Advent Season!

Before we get to Advent... Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Gabby has gone into a "turkey coma," which serves the priest well (he needs his "long winter's nap" as well!!!). As we take this pause before all the craziness of Advent & Christmas kicks in, I wanted to give you an update on our parish projects and all the good things happening at the parishes.

First of all, I would like to thank Mayor David O'Connell and the members of the St. Anne Village Board for their $6,500+ donation towards the sidewalk repair at St. Anne's Church. As with the other parish, a bunch of folks at Anne's have been burning the candles towards a Vender Fair, an Angel Giving Tree, their upcoming CCW party on December 8th at noon and so much more!!!

The gym floor project at Pat's is now completed! Thanks to Ford & Sons (and Ted Peterson's gentle prodding), we now have a concrete floor in the new bathroom area! We are hoping that Joe Kraus and the gang will be able to finish the bathrooms by the end of the calendar year. Regardless, we are moving forward on the project so stay tuned!

We have the parish mission coming up this weekend - Fr. Tom McCarthy has gotten rave reviews from his past mission work in other parishes in the area. We haven't had a mission for quite a while (among other things!), so hopefully we will have a good showing for this event - if we truly want to get to heaven, we need to show God that we actually care about our relationship with Him and the community that serves God as a gift!

Bishop Ronald Hicks comes to our parishes on December 4th. He will be making difficult choices concerning parishes and school closures in the near future - I have heard that neither St. Pat's or Anne's are on his radar but, nevertheless, a good showing at our parishes might make a difference as to what he decides.

That is it for now - have a blessed Thanksgiving & Advent Weekend! Hope to see you at our Parish Mission on November 27-29.

VISIT FROM BISHOP HICKS

Bishop Ronald Hicks will be Visiting St. Anne's and St. Patrick's Church on December 4th!

St. Anne’s will celebrate her 150th Anniversary of her church’s building at 9:00 A.M. and St. Pat’s will host the bishop at the 10:30 A.M. Mass in English and the 12:00 Mass in Spanish. As the bishop attempts to visit all the parishes in the diocese before his consolidation plan takes effect in 2024, it would be nice if we make a nice showing at all our Masses that Sunday.

ST. PATRICK'S NIGHT AT THE CHRISTMAS MOVIES!

To get us into the Christmas Spirit, we are hosting an event held at other parishes, a Drive-In Movie experience of “The Polar Express” in our parish parking lot! In your cars, you will be able to signal in on our movie experience with your family! We will offer hot chocolate, popcorn, snacks and pictures with Santa Claus and “The Conductor” from the movie! The movie experience starts at 6:00 p.m. in the parish parking lot – all are invited to join us but you need to reserve your space by calling the parish office at (815) 472-2864.
