A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | |
November 17th, 2023
Dear Colleague,
We are all watching the news in horror and disbelief. Violent crises taking place in the Middle East, Africa and beyond are inflicting terrible costs on countless innocent lives. There are solutions to these disasters. Our ardent hope is that politicians in positions of influence will assert their powers and forge durable, long-term solutions to these conflicts. Civilians caught in the middle must be freed from the turmoil and violence they are subjected to so they may realize a peaceful future that is their right.
A bit of good news. Our second, Virtual Global Health Week took place October 30 to November 3, 2023. Nearly 2000 people attended eighteen free, open access, online workshops covering an array of global health challenges. Thank you to the organizers, panelists, and attendees from around the world, across disciplines and sectors who made this week such a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. A big thanks to my team: Jenna, who led this effort and Dalal and Sarika for their support. The sessions will be on our website by the end of Nov. Please share them widely.
Our 2024 in-person conference, Global Health Without Borders: Acting for Impact, will be in Los Angeles, March 7-10, 2024. Register now and book a hotel room at our lowest rates at www.cugh2024.org. Also, please submit a proposal by Nov. 30 if you would like to hold a half-day, in-person satellite session on Mar. 7, 2024.
Finally, please consider supporting students and researchers from LMICs to present their work at CUGH 2024, by donating to our end of year fundraiser.
https://www.cugh.org/donate 100% of all donations support the travel bursaries and they are tax deductible in the US.
Please forward this newsletter to your networks so others can benefit from it.
Best wishes,
