Together, the organizations will seek to harness the power of generative AI to help pharmaceutical and life science manufacturers drive efficiencies and business value while improving patient outcomes. To meet the industry's unique needs, EVERSANA and AWS will identify, develop and deploy high-impact solutions across the pharmaceutical commercialization value chain. Nimble Works launches sister healthcare tech agency with GE HealthCare, Clario already signed up

Nearly a decade after its founding, healthcare marketing agency Nimble Works is launching a new sister shop to serve clients that it sees at the “intersection of clinical and technological innovation.” Known as Vital Works, this offshoot will be overseen by Lisa Reid, one of the founders of Nimble back in 2014, alongside agency veterans and managing partners Kristy Carabello and Sara Zaccheo. The new agency hit the ground running with U.S. medtech giant GE HealthCare, contract research company Clario and sleep apnea device maker SomnoMed, among others, already clients for the agency. We started Nimble Works almost ten years ago and have been a trusted agency partner to healthcare and medtech clients, including Philips, Novartis, Amneal, DayTwo, and others,” said Reid in a release. “We formed Vital Works as a separate agency to serve companies like GE HealthCare with smart, dedicated, and wholly separate teams, and the utmost respect for our client confidentiality. Vital Works will also specialize in the “convergence of clinical and technical innovation, offering a unique and holistic perspective on healthcare and health technology,” the agency added in its release.

The Inescapable Reality of Financial Toxicity

More and more studies are examining how out-of-pocket health care costs such as co-payments and deductibles affect patients. These studies typically find that many patients have difficulty buying the medications they need and paying their household bills. Numerous studies on the topic were presented at the recent annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. In one such study of 1108 patients with cancer who received charitable co-pay assistance (CPA), Jeffrey M. Peppercorn, MD, of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and colleagues found that, despite having insurance, 17% and 18% reported delays in starting therapy and skipping medical services, respectively, due to cost. Further, prior to receiving CPA, 66% believed their insurance (mostly Medicare) would shield them from paying high drug costs. Three-quarters of study participants agreed or strongly agreed that doctors should be aware of costs when making decisions. In an article, Daniel D. Joyce, MD, a urologic oncology fellow at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, said financial toxicity, like drug toxicity, should be included in physician patient discussions about treatment options. “Indeed, financial toxicity has been associated with worse quality of life, symptom burden, and even survival, further supporting its inclusion in shared decision-making.”
