EUCHARISTIC VISITORS

A Birthday Gift for Margaret Lodi,

celebrating 102 years on

October 29, 2023.

Margaret’s daughter, Joan, requested the Eucharist as a special gift for her mother’s birthday. Flowers from the

altar were also gifted.

This Ministry brings the Eucharist to those who are homebound, fulfilling a spiritual need and connecting them with our community gathered in church.

To request this Ministry, please

contact Rev. Kimberly or Fr. Eric.

FROM THE RECTOR

This Sunday we'll celebrate the Feast of All Saints, with baptisms at 11:00 and Evensong at 5:30. On All Saints we remember all of the saints of the church, known and unknown. But of course we are not simply honoring a whole host of exemplary people for their own sake. Part of why we remember them is captured in the almost child-like hymn, I sing a song of the saints of God: "I sing a song of the saints of God, patient and brave and true . . . [the hymn then lists a bunch of professions and stations in life before saying] they were all of them saints of God, and I mean, God helping, to be one too." We remember the saints across time and across professions, partially, so that we might follow their example.

I know that you're too modest to try for sainthood. But then again, modesty is one of the first job requirements for sanctity and none of us does it alone. Come together this Sunday as we renew our commitment to our calling and welcome three new members into the communion of saints in heaven and on earth.

Hospitality Team for Evensong

Sign up Below

Our memorable receptions are made possible by a combination of delicious foods and motivated individuals wanting to extend hospitality to all those who walk through our church doors! The Hospitality Committee invites you to make or purchase a finger food or beverage for the Fall Evensong reception immediately following the Evensong service at 5:30 PM, Sunday, November 5.

You may drop off your food items in the River Room kitchen between morning services or after the 11 AM service on November 5. We ask that you deliver your items on disposable serving ware, and we will plate the items for service.

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to Saint Paul's Church and annotate it for the "Evensong Reception." Questions, contact Eric Friedman

As always, we also need teams to help set up, serve, and clean up. Please sign up to bring items and/or serve below.

ZOOM Book Study

Tuesdays, 7:30 PM,

Grateful: The Subversive Practice of Giving Thanks led by Barbara Coleman.

“Every day there are reasons not to be grateful. Terrible, distressing, painful, and awful things happen all the time. Yet gratitude is a defiance, of sorts, the defiance of kindness in the face of anger, of connection in the face of division, and of hope in the face of fear. Gratefulness does not acquiesce to evil–it resists evil.”

Books are available in the Narthex on Sunday and in the parish office during the week. $20 donation. Sign up on the website, so that we can forward class schedules and updates.

Walk for Water

November 18, 2023, 9 AM

CSRA Walk for Water returns this year and once again Saint Paul's is the midway point of the walk. We're excited to support this event and invite you to join this important work. More information can be found on our website here.

The Walk for Water puts a creative twist on the typical “fundraising walk.” On the morning of Saturday, November 18, we expect six hundred people to walk, carrying empty buckets, from the SRP Park baseball field in North Augusta to Saint Paul’s parking lot by the River Walk, where they will fill their buckets and begin the return trek along the river. This walk connects us with the trek billions make every single day to carry home untreated water for basic subsistence.

You can support this event by creating a walking team, volunteering to serve as hospitality at Saint Paul's, or giving to our team. For more information contact Elisabeth Price.

This year provides an extra challenge: Manna Pantry will also be working Nov. 18, so extra hands will be very welcome!
