From the Board
Hola Amigos,
Very soon, we will meet again, especially the consultants from Latin America, as we will host a LATAM event for the first time in Panama City. The "Sustainability and Well-being" Summit will take place from September 14 -16 at the Hilton Panama hotel.
The event will feature experts in the field, such as Léa Gejer from Brazil, who will speak on the interesting topic of Circular Economy. We will also be joined by Ken Gronbach, who will provide valuable information on culture, opportunities, and demographics focused on the Latin American region. Other consultants and experts will also be presenting relevant and cutting-edge topics in the industry. It's a great opportunity for all FCSI consultants from the LATAM region and potential members to join us in this unique event which offers a special $99 registration price for consultants. This early bird rate ENDS TODAY, so register now to take advantage of this amazing rate! I believe we have no excuses not to participate and update ourselves, and above all, to generate positive networking and create a space for everyone to get to know each other.
I remember the first time I participated in an FCSI event in Anaheim, California. On that occasion, my eyes were opened to the vastness of the foodservice consulting world and the opportunities we have to grow as an associated community. FCSI The Americas has made efforts to support and create our own event in our region, and in my opinion, this is a perfect opportunity for motivation and learning for our partners and coworkers to attend and gain firsthand knowledge of the foodservice world. Panama undoubtedly awaits us.
Our friends from FCSI Brazil have also been very active in various activities. Recently, they held the largest foodservice event in Brazil called FISPAL, from June 13-16 at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo. (see more below) Thanks to the initiative of the consultants, there was an "Ask to the Experts" booth where many interested individuals had their doubts cleared regarding design, strategy, and general equipment-related aspects.
As the representative of LATAM on the FCSI The Americas Board of Directors, it is an honor to work together with great professionals to make our region even greater. See you in Panama.

Fispal 2023 was an amazing success! During the four days of the event, we received approximately 300 visitors at our stand for the FCSI project - Talk to the Specialist. It was a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs and industry professionals to receive specialized consultancy and connect with the main names in food service.
Another highlight was the daily round tables, where FCSI members and guests discussed key topics for the sector, such as delivery, sustainability, and service. These sessions provided valuable insights and exchange of experiences among participants, promoting enriching learning for all.
In addition, Fispal 2023 offered a unique networking opportunity with the main names in the food and beverage sector. The possibility of interacting and establishing strategic connections with other professionals is essential for business growth. We believe in the power of these partnerships and the boosting potential they bring.
We would like to sincerely thank FCSI the Americas for their support and collaboration during Fispal 2023.

Canadian Chapter
Summer Social Event
|
On Thursday June 15, 2023 local and national Consultants from lands far west and Regional Allied members from the Canadian Chapter of FCSI traveled to and gathered at The Albany Club in downtown Toronto on King Street East for the Canadian Chapter June Summer Social Event. Forty-five people attended the social event and a few even followed the request on the invite to dress up in “Anything Canadian Eh “attire.
The weather weenies held off the rain until after our dinner so that we were able to enjoy cocktails up on the rooftop patio before returning to the dining room on the 4th floor for a wonderful buffet dinner. Cathy Sommers, our Director of the Canadian Chapter, put together a list of 25 questions on “all-and-all-things-Canadian” which the members answered as a group before adjourning for the evening. I am not sure that some of us got every answer correct but we did so with a group effort.
A good time was had by all. Thank you Cathy for organizing the event.

Our FCSI Family recently lost a dear friend to everyone and a longtime active volunteer. I had the pleasure of having Ruby serve on multiple committees and as a Trustee on the FCSI The Americas Board. She was a loving soul and always so happy to participate to make FCSI The best it could be.

FCSI has established standards to ensure consistency, optimum functionality and quality of the BIM content provided for foodservice equipment. The standards document has been created in cooperation with input from representatives of the three FCSI divisions APD, EAME & TAD, having formed the FCSI BIM Taskforce (2020 – 2021) of Professional Consultants. The FCSI BIM Taskforce proposes that this document is used as guidelines to assist content creators globally. The objective of this Standard is provided as a template when content creators are commissioned with producing Revit families of foodservice equipment for the manufacturers of foodservice equipment. This document is not catch all to solve all issues in all regions. We acknowledge that some additional work will need to be tailored to suit local applications and codes. View the full document here.
