MESSAGE FROM JIMMY

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).

I had a couple that attended my church in Amory that had been married for 70 years! Mr. Crook once told me, “I don’t hear so well anymore, and she doesn’t see so well. I’m her eyes; she’s my ears.” Seventy years is a lot of faithfulness in a marriage.

I have had the same barber cut my hair for 15 years! How I was able to do that moving around as a Methodist pastor is short of a miracle. Fifteen years is a lot of faithfulness to one barber.

Some of you reading this have been members of Clinton First United Methodist Church your entire life. Being baptized, confirmed, and married in one church is a pretty amazing thing. I have heard many say to me over the years, “Preacher, I was brought into the nursery of this church as a baby, and I will be rolled of it out after my funeral.” An entire life of faithfulness is a beautiful witness.

These examples of faithfulness are amazing, but we know God’s faithfulness far exceeds them all. The Bible helps us to see how our God has demonstrated his loving care and never-ending mercy from generation to generation and day after day. Come let us worship and recount together the deeds of the Lord!

This Sunday is Commitment Sunday. We will be given an opportunity to faithfully respond to God by pledging our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. I ask you to prayerfully consider pledging this coming year to our general operating fund and the second mile fund.

We have a wonderful staff that are supported in ministry through your gifts and service. Tom Edwards is amazing! He has been working here for more than a decade. Dr. Brenda Wilder is a wonderful blessing to our church. She has been here for over two decades. Tommy Steadman is amazing! He has been working here for almost three decades. Ginny Miller has played the piano for our church for more than four decades. She has been so faithful to play for more than 2,000 worship services! I give thanks for the faithfulness of all our staff and am appreciative of their dedication. I also give thanks to God for your generosity and faithfulness to our church. Great is His faithfulness!

Jimmy

BREAKTHRU 2024

Calling all youth! I know it seems like we just got back from fall retreat (because we did) but registration is OPEN for Breakthru 2024! We are excited to be back at BreakThru this year. Every year, teens from across the Southeast travel to Timber Creek Camps for a long weekend of worship, messages, small groups, epic color wars and more. This is our 46th year to attend Breakthru and we want YOU to come! This year’s theme is “SOS.” There is one great Epic story and God invites each of us to step into His Kingdom plan and find our identity and purpose. The only way for that to happen is for Jesus to Save Our Story! Register today by clicking HERE. We have LIMITED spots, so I’d suggest an early registration!

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

On the last weekend of October, our youth ministry descended upon Timber Creek Camps in Pulaski, MS ,for a weekend of worship, teaching and fellowship. Our theme this year was Catching Fire. With guest preacher Rev. Susan Eaton from Parkway Heights and our own Pastor Katie, our students had some great sessions about what it means to be in true community with one another. Rev. Josh Gray, a former staff employee of Clinton First, led worship alongside his wife, Kristen Gray. This intentional time away for our students came at the perfect time, allowing those present to rest and relax all while worshipping and learning more about the Lord. We do want to thank all of our volunteers, including those not pictured, for spending a weekend with our students! We could not minister to our youth without you!
