It's SPACE WEEK
During Space Week, one of our exciting activities is that New Heights has been chosen to participate in a program called ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station). Through this program our students will have a unique opportunity to talk directly with an astronaut on the International Space Station. Our contact with the ISS will be about 10-15 minutes long on Friday with Astronaut Andreas Mogensen, the pilot for SpaceX crew 7.
In September students came up with a number of amazing questions they had for astronauts. Questions were submitted to NASA and once we have been given approval on the questions submitted, we will let students know who will have the opportunity to ask their question directly to the astronaut aboard the ISS. (We will be able to ask approximately 15 questions). The entire school will be able to participate via a Google Meet link with the Ground Station that we are assigned.
Additionally, there will be fun classroom activities such as working together to build our own Space Station; learning about Amateur Radio; designing Posters; tasting Space Food; creating Slideshow presentations; exploring Rockets and more!
