Mass Readings for Today

From the President's Desk

Dear Savio Family,

The school year has started, and the classes, activities, and challenges of balancing home, work, and school commitments are in full swing. We understand, we feel it, and we are blessed to walk this path with all of you. A few items for your time and attention:

  • Our Facilities and Grounds Director needs additional help. He has done an excellent job for many years, and the time has come to provide him with some assistance with the everyday demands of keeping our facilities and grounds in great shape. If you know someone who enjoys this type of work, wants to be part of the Savio team, and would like to apply for this part-time job, please have them contact Dr. Danna Kelemen at dkelemen@saviochs.org

  • We are in the news! Well, not exactly the news, but in the latest edition of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce annual magazine. This publication will be flooding the community via home delivery, businesses, and other community agencies. We have a prominent ad in the “Education” section and expect this to get the word out, or “cast the net”, about our school. We need your help in spreading the news. Go to the online version of the magazine and check out the information. Then, send the link below to all family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. who should know about our school. Hint, when you go to the online version, click the Savio ad and see what happens! 2023-2024 Round Rock Community Guide by Community Matters, Inc. - Issuu

  • Booster Athletics needs you! I humbly ask you to pray and then decide how you can help the Savio Booster Club. This group has raised a lot of money to support our overall athletic department and each sport. In addition, this group does the heavy lifting with the work that is needed to make it all happen. They need your time and I humbly ask you to jump in to help lighten the load. If you are not already signed up to support your child’s team, or to support the committee work of the Booster Club, then please do so. Every bit helps. Every gift of time is appreciated. Email me at tcullen@saviochs.org if you have any questions. Thank you!

  • The Savio Hall of Fame and the Savio Heritage Awards. We are very excited to roll out these new additions to how we recognize and show appreciation for those who have been a part of our school’s success. More information and nomination forms will be coming out soon.

Take care and God bless!

Tim

Principal's Message

Dear Savio Family,

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I know here at Savio the faculty and staff got some much needed rest after a very busy first few weeks of school.

It was a pleasure to meet so many of you last week at Back to School Night. I really enjoyed speaking with so many of you about your children and your experience at Savio. The Savio family is growing by the day and I am blessed to be a part of it.

Next week will mark the mid way point of the first quarter. I can’t believe how fast it is going by. Please be sure to check in on your children’s grades and progress reports. If you have questions, concerns or your children are in need of extra help we have many resources available to assist them and help them reach their full potential.

Last Friday we had our first school Adoration of the year. It was a beautiful sight to see our students gathering in the Church, praying, worshiping, and receiving God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Friday night was the home opener for the football team. It was great to see so many of our fans show up to support the team and help them bring home an exciting victory. Here at Savio we believe in praying hard and playing hard so Friday was a great day to see what we are all about.

Please continue to come out and support all of our Athletic teams, Cross Country, Football and Volleyball. I hope to see you all soon.

God Bless,

Evan

Parents

Uniform Resale

Throughout the school year, SPA has many gently used uniform shirts, blazers, skirts and pants for sale at reduced prices. We even have long sleeved uniform shirts and outerwear for cooler weather. Please email Moya Griffin at moyagriffin@gmail.com or Katie Klein at appleicecream@hotmail.com if your child needs any uniform pieces.

Rosary Group

The Savio Rosary Group prays the rosary each weekday during the school year at 8:30 am in the chapel and on Zoom. Every decade is offered on behalf of and for the intentions of a specific event, teacher, staff member, or student. By the end of the school year, we have prayed for everyone at Savio by name.

The Zoom link (Meeting ID: 558 531 0293, Passcode: prayrosary) is used each day for anyone who cannot make it to the chapel.

We are praying for our teachers, staff, and coaches through September 8th. We will be praying for Freshmen beginning September 11th. Click here for the list of Freshman.

Please consider yourself invited--we would love to see you there!

Soiree Chairs and Volunteers Needed

We just booked our venue and are starting to put together our leadership team and coordinators for this year’s Soiree!

Getting involved with Soiree is a great way to meet other Savio parents, give back to the school – plus the Advancement Department is SUPER fun to work with!

We will be hosting a happy hour for all interested volunteers in mid/late October.

At that time, we will discuss the event needs and ways to put your God given talents to good use for Savio!

Please email advancement@saviochs.org if you have questions or think this might be of interest to you.

Attention Senior parents and volunteers of any grade! Let's send the seniors off in style!

Come on out to Mama Bettys on Monday night (9/11) at 7 p.m. to learn more about Project Graduation 2024 (Savio Night Live). This first meeting of the parent planning committee will introduce you to Project Graduation and kickoff the planning for 2024! Project Graduation is a night of planned, supervised, substance-free fun as an alternative to student-run parties on graduation night. It will be an unforgettable experience filled with friends, food, fun, and lasting memories. All seniors attending will receive a cool raffle prize. The committee’s goal is to have 100% student participation for Project Graduation. We thank you in advance for encouraging your student to attend and for joining with us to ensure a safe and enjoyable graduation night for the class of 2024!

Project Graduation (Savio Night Live) will be May 25th (graduation night)!

See you Monday night (9/11) at 7 p.m. at Mama Bettys to get the ball rolling.

RSVP to Jenny Andrews (jen.e.andrews@gmail.com) so I can get a big enough table. Hope to see you there!
