Update: Nightly Closures of

MacArthur On-Ramp to Southbound SR-55

Extended Through January 2024

WHAT:

Crews are constructing a retaining wall adjacent to the on-ramp from MacArthur Boulevard to southbound SR-55. This work requires installing temporary shoring and removing the existing retaining wall.

Crews are closing the MacArthur on-ramp to SB SR-55 to safely access the work area.

WHEN:

The on-ramp will continue to be closed weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through January 2024.

In observance of Christmas, there will be no closures scheduled from Friday, Dec. 22 to Monday, Dec. 25. Construction activities will resume Tuesday, Dec. 26.

• Keep an emergency kit with water, food, blankets, extra clothing, and roadside tools in your car
• Stay alert and watch for brake lights in front of you

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
