The Kids Free Christmas Store is for Sweet Home kids aged 2 through 12, offering them the opportunity to shop freely for their respective families.
Upon arrival, each child is assigned a personal shopper who guides them to tables with a variety of new gifts to choose from. Once the kids have made their selections, the chosen gifts are expertly wrapped, and the children joyfully take them home to place under the Christmas tree for their family members.

This year is our 5th Annual Gingerbread Competition. Anyone can compete, or you can just come and enjoy the beauty and creativity of the finished houses.
Viewing of the entries and voting for the People's Choice Award will be on December 16th from 10AM-3PM at 1266 44th Ave in Sweet Home.
Entries must be delivered to the Activity Gym at SHNLICF, 1266 44th Ave, Sweet Home on December 15th from 5-8pm. After that time, the doors are shut, and judging begins.
To enter a house or other structure, fill out a pre-registration form.
You may enter for FREE. The rules can be found HERE
Only edible items are allowed, with the exception of the base and battery-operated light(s). No glue, and points are deducted for kits. Structure does not have to be a house; be creative!
Winners receive a prize for each category listed below:
- Child (5-8 years old)
- Youth (9-12 years old)
- Teen (13-17 years old)
- Adult (18+ years old)
- Group/Family
- People's Choice
There is also a silent auction available for some of the houses, money goes to the competitor.

Mid-Valley Economic Indicators - October Data
|
|
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rates continued to hold steady in two of the four Mid-Valley counties, with little to no change from September to October in the counties of Linn (3.8%) and Marion (3.5%). In contrast, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in both Polk County (3.6%) and Yamhill County (3.3%) increased slightly in October.
Year-over-year, total nonfarm employment was up throughout the Mid-Valley. Employment in Mid-Valley was up approximately 2.4% from October 2022 to October 2023. In Salem MSA, employment was up by 4,300 jobs (2.4%), while in Linn County, it was up by 1,120 jobs (2.4%), and in Yamhill County, it was up by 870 jobs (2.4%).
