Welcome Dr. John Vasquez!

We are proud to introduce Dr. John Vasquez as the new Executive Director of Graduate Studies and Research. With over two decades of higher education experience, Dr. Vasquez will begin his duties on February 1, 2024. Dr. Vasquez received his bachelor's degree in Organization Studies and Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) in Public Health & Policy from the University of Michigan and his doctoral degree in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University.

As Executive Director of Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Vasquez will direct graduate studies, providing expertise in developing university policy relating to graduate education and facilitating the University's obligation to meet internally and externally established standards relating to graduate education. One of his early goals will be to cultivate external partnerships with businesses and other academic institutions to facilitate new program creation and enrollment growth.

Dr. Vasquez will also oversee the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs and help provide faculty and staff the support necessary to secure extramurally funded sponsored programs. As the Executive Director, Dr. Vasquez will strategically lead the University's research and innovation programs, including new partnerships; create a university infrastructure, environment, and culture inside the University that facilitates, encourages, inspires, nurtures, enhances, and supports research and innovation; and respond to research challenges confronting southern Colorado and historically marginalized groups.
