Labor Day Eats and a Funky Fest!
We are so psyched for Saturday! Number one, it's a holiday weekend and the market is bursting with every tasty morsel you can possibly fit in a picnic basket. Number two, we've got a ton of guest vendors joining us - literally every singe space on the map is filled! And number three, we're gettin' funky with some amazing foods and experimental beverages (think coffee kombucha), lots of fun activities (a Kraut Mob and Probiotic Petting Zoo to name a few) and cool informative talks and live music. Come kick off September with us - did we mention the weather is going to be spectacular, and we've got new EFM merch coming out?!

What will you find? Let's start with a Probiotic Petting Zoo where families can touch and feel live kombucha scobys! And how about a Yummy for My Tummy Storytime & Tasting featuring - an interactive experience where kids will explore the foods in the book through tasting samples of kombucha, sourdough, milk kefir, beet kvass and pickles! Plus a funky art area for the kids with coloring sheets, dry erase activity placemats and a temp tattoo 'parlor' with eco-friendly veggie themed tats.

Cabbage Throw Farm is always ready to get funky! For funky ferments, they will bring loads of both green & Napa cabbage, ready to be fermented into kraut or kimchi. Other veggies that love pickling include green beans, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, red onions, hot peppers and tomatoes! It may be one of the last weeks of big heirloom tomatoes but many plum and san marzano tomatoes continue to ripen. (Please reach out via email if interested in a bulk order of saucing tomatoes.)
Additional produce available includes shishito peppers, sweet & hot peppers, eggplant, melons, shallots, garlic, yellow onions, basil, microgreens, and Comeback Farm's organic fruit.

This week's highlight is sweet peppers! They are late to ripen this year but boy are they big, beautiful and delicious!! Look at these beauties!

The full line-up features: lettuce mix, spicy European mesclun mix, arugula, tuscan, green kale, and red kale, collards, chard, red and green leaf, scallions, carrots, parsley, dill, cilantro, slicing tomatoes (red and yellow), cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, English cucumbers, yellow and red onions, celery, leeks, eggplant, green beans, basil, cocktail tomatoes, bell peppers, sweet Italian horn peppers, hot peppers (jalapeño and poblano), apples and pears.

It's melon madness at Scholl's this week! Look for tons of watermelon, cantaloupe and canary. How about making a mixed melon salad or colorful melon kebobs or cocktails for your Labor Day get together? Check out this Cantaloupe Cucumber Gin Spritzer!

Matthew will be presenting on the hillside at 9:30am.
