Dear Partner in Mission,
Sister Georganne Duggan, OP, wasn’t sure she would become a Sister, but when Mother Gerald Barry decided to purchase an abandoned hospital in Santa Cruz, California, she knew she had to join the Adrian Dominican Congregation. She was the only nurse among five Sisters sent to Santa Cruz in 1941 to establish the Congregation's healthcare ministry. Sister Georganne ministered for 48 years at Santa Cruz Dominican Hospital in California and St. Rose Dominican Hospitals in Henderson, Nevada: facilities that continue to serve thousands of people in those communities today.
I invite you to watch this moving video about how Sister Georganne converted an abandoned hospital into one that still flourishes today. Like so many Adrian Dominicans, Sister Georganne believed in a future shaped by love and helped create a better community. Next week learn about how Sister Denise Mainville, OP, inspired others through music and art.
May the holiday season bring you and your loved ones joy and peace. We hold you in our daily prayers and thank you for joining us as we make our world a better place by living and sharing the Dominican Charism.
Christmas Blessings,
Amy Palmer, MA, CFRE
