The Calgary's Child Winter Edition is now availible.
This issue is packed with cozy indoor activities and exciting outdoor adventures, so there's something for everyone. Families can also explore classes and programs plus find education and parenting support, and find lots of fun ways to enjoy time together.


Tech Spot
On Friday November 17 at 10:10am the students at New Heights School had an exciting opportunity to have a telebridge contact with Astronaut ESA - Andreas Mogensen aboard the International Space Station (ISS) via Amateur Radio. In the 23 years of the ARISS program (Amatuer Radio on the International Space Station), our school was the 16th school in Alberta and only the 5th school in Calgary to have ever been chosen to participate in this unique & memorable opportunity!

Brian Jackson, the Canada Mentor for the ARISS program was our special guest and our Amatuer Radio Moderator for our contact with the ISS. Fifteen of our students had an opportunity to directly ask questions of Astronaut Andreas Mogensen while our entire school was able to watch/listen from their classrooms via Zoom. The morning then continued with fun Space themed learning activities throughout the school.
 
The ARISS amateur radio ground station (telebridge station) for our contact that day, was in Casale Monferrato, Italy. Leading the amateur radio volunteer team was Claudio Ariotto. To share in our telebridge contact experience with the ISS see his link below:

Early Registration for 2024-2025 for current students
Early registration packages for current students will be sent home the week of December 4th.

If you have questions about re-registration, contact Alison Black, our Admissions Coordinator, at alison.black@newheightscalgary.com. 

Early registration packages for current students are due on Friday, January 26th, 2024. 

Our wait list will be open to new students on February 1st, 2024.

Autism Adventure Travel has created a cruise vacation package that can be your gateway to a supported family recreational experience. In late January 2025 we have the opportunity for the cruise to be an exclusive experience for New Heights Families. 

Join us for one of two virtual information sessions that we are hosting on Wednesday, November 29th at 7:00pm or Saturday, December 2nd at 1:00pm.

Tracy will be on the information virtual meetings, along with Rob Zoppi, New Heights parent and Founder of Autism Adventure Travel.

Unclaimed items will be donated.
Reminder to label all your coats, hats, mitts, waterbottles, etc. We have an ongoing fundraiser with Mabels Labels if you are looking for an easy way to label your items.
Casino volunteer sign-up
New Heights has a Casino fundraiser event scheduled for Friday, March 15th and Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at the Elbow River Casino. 
Reminder: This is part of your community commitment please pick a time that works for someone in your family.

No experience is necessary, and all positions are trained and supervised at the event. Additional details will be sent to volunteers prior to the event.
