These attacks can cause long-term outages, financial losses, erosion of public trust and compromise Business Continuity Plan & Disaster Recovery (BCP&DR) standards.
Through a live simulated cyber-attack, this webinar will highlight the extent to which cyber-attacks can disrupt municipalities and demonstrate the pressing need for comprehensive cybersecurity strategies, advanced threat detection, and robust incident response plans designed to shield digital infrastructure.

NEW AWARD CATEGORY FOR 2024 CAMA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM
Each year CAMA recognizes the value of excellence and professionalism in municipal administration through the Annual Awards Program in four areas of Program Excellence: Inspiring Workplace, Environmental Leadership and Sustainability, Innovation, and Collaboration. We are pleased to introduce the Municipal Inspiring Workplace Award, a new category this year that has replaced the Professional Development Award.
Municipal Inspiring Workplace Award
The CAMA Municipal Inspiring Workplace Award recognizes a forward thinking and people first employer/member municipality that has demonstrated leadership in creating an inspiring and positive work environment for its employees that enhances employee engagement, job satisfaction, and overall well-being. Recipients will embrace progressive human resources practices, building a resilient organization including such things as promoting diversity, equity and inclusion; supporting and encouraging work-life balance; fostering a culture of training and professional development; providing fair compensation and benefits; and investing in talent for long-term success. Having strong leadership that exemplifies a clear vision and values which guides the municipal government’s actions and policies is also important.
Nominations should demonstrate a commitment to the above-noted values and practices and include examples of how this has been embedded into the organization's culture.
The deadline for the 2024 CAMA Awards of Excellence nominations is 4:30 p.m. PST on Monday, February 12, 2024. The on-line nomination form will be available on January 8, 2024.
All information including the questions that are on the on-line nomination form can be found now on the CAMA website.

City of Fredericton, NB
No Surprises Construction Framework
Thanks to its innovative No-Surprises Construction Framework, the City of Fredericton has created a strong and thriving partnership with its business community by allowing for the timely and practical sharing of information regarding infrastructure upgrades and streetscape renewal projects for both the current year and up to five years into the future.
In the past, the disruptions caused City’s essential infrastructure renewal and public realm construction work created an adversarial relationship between the municipality and downtown businesses whose operations were impacted by months of big digs, dust and noise.
In response to this yearly impasse, the City partnered with Downtown Fredericton Inc. and Business Fredericton North in 2020 to design the No-Surprises Construction Framework, which was fully implemented in time for the 2021 construction season.
Quarterly meetings convened by the business groups and collaborative projects have created a common future wherein the business community has a better understanding of and appreciation for the infrastructure work that must happen each year, and the City has been able to lessen the impacts of that work for businesses.

Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake
Ambassador Program - Enhancing the Visitor Experience
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Ambassadors play a vital role in enhancing the visitor experience in the Town, providing helpful, accurate, and timely information to ensure visitors make the most of their Niagara-on-the-Lake experience.
This fantastic team of almost 50 volunteers provided a warm welcome as they strolled the downtown area and made recommendations on all there is to see and do in this historic and beautiful Town, including information about local attractions, events, restaurants, and more. In 2022, they donated over 1,500 volunteer hours of service, connecting with over 9,000 visitors from around the world. Sharing their pride and personal experiences, their interactions with visitors helped turn every encounter into an extraordinary experience, further enhancing the reputation of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a top tourist destination and one of the friendliest Towns in Canada.
The program also included building a comprehensive resource of information, a visitor website, and training to better equip Ambassadors for their roles.
Through exceptional collaboration, the Town, Tourism NOTL and the Ambassadors achieved a common goal to provide the best possible visitor experience, enhancing tourism and economic prosperity.
