A ROYAL PROGRAM

You are cordially invited to a audience with the Queen!

Sunday, January 21st at 2pm

The Fleming Center at The New London Barn Playhouse

In 1837, teenaged Victoria ascended to the British throne, untrained and innocent. Those who would try to usurp her power underestimated this self-willed intelligent young woman whose mettle sustained her through her 63-year reign. Using Queen Victoria's diary and letters, this program reveals the personal details of a powerful yet humane woman, who took seriously her role as monarch in a time of great expansion. She and her husband, Albert, set an example of high moral character and dedication, a novelty in the royal house after generations of scandal. Through her children she left a royal legacy; an era bears her name.

Join us Sunday, January 21st at 2pm at The Fleming Center at The New London Barn Playhouse as Sally Mummey performs this living history in proper 19th century clothing resplendent with Royal Orders. Tea and cookies will be served after the performance.

Center for the Arts members tickets are $18 per person, non-members $23 per person, and student tickets are $5 per person.

Seating is limited so make your reservations by emailing info@cfanh.org

NH Butterfly Study Group to Launch at The Hub

Residents interested in joining a study group to learn about the butterflies native to this region of New Hampshire are invited to attend monthly gatherings of the Lake Sunapee Butterfly Club to be held at The Andover Community Hub, 157 Main Street, Andover. This series will start on Thursday, January 18, 6-7:30 PM and will continue monthly on the third Thursday through July (with the exception of March which will be the second Thursday).

Led by local butterfly expert Amy Highstrom, who spoke last spring at The Hub, this is a citizen-science adult-learning series, preparing local participants to have the knowledge and skills to help with local butterfly counts next summer, if they so choose. The series is endorsed by NH Fish and Game NonGame Wildlife Program in partnership with Ausbon-Sargent Land Preservation Trust. Those interested are welcome to contact the instructor at amy.highstrom@gmail.com for further information, or to just show up on January 18!

The group is open to all levels, beginners to advanced, and to those who would like to learn a few species for fun, as well as to those who are serious about learning the skills necessary to identify butterflies that might be seen at a local count next summer. All are welcome.
