The Resource Allocation Program (RAP) pilot awards are mentoring and training grants eligible to UCSF and UC Berkeley Early Stage Investigators in TB research. Awarded applicants are auto-enrolled in TB RAMP.

Applications are open for The Philip Hopewell Prize for Leaders in Global Respiratory Health, an esteemed global research award presented by the American Thoracic Society (ATS) in honor of Dr. Philip Hopewell. The Philip Hopewell Prize for Leaders in Global Respiratory Health is designed to recognize mid-career investigators in low- and middle-income countries who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to clinical and research excellence.

The Center is thrilled to announce Drs. Budzik, Dandan, Dufault, and Zheng are our Fall 2023 Mentored Scientist Awardees in TB Research with TB RAMP and UC TRAC co-funding. All awardees are current TB RAMP Scholars. Dr. Dandan was awarded the Team Science Award with Dr. Babak Javid as mentor, and funded under the Center's DEIAB Initiative for under-represented mentored scientists.

Publications in TB Research

The R2D2 Network, led by Drs. Cattamanchi, Phillips, Nahid, with Ms. Crowder and partners published its first multi-country publication, "Evaluation of the Xpert MTB Host Response assay for the triage of patients with presumed pulmonary tuberculosis: a prospective diagnostic accuracy study in Viet Nam, India, the Philippines, Uganda, and South Africa" in The Lancet, February 2024.

Drs. Chamie, Hahn, Gandhi, Havlir with partners published "Financial incentives for reduced alcohol use and increased isoniazid adherence during tuberculosis preventive therapy among people with HIV in Uganda: an open-label, factorial randomised controlled trial" in The Lancet, December 2023.

The UC TRAC Global Fellowship Program provides tailored mentorship, capacity-building, and stipend funding to elevate the research and career path of Early-Stage Investigators engaged in Tuberculosis-focused research who are from and working in LMIC countries with a high burden of TB.


Applicants must be involved in research affiliated with a current UCSF or UCB faculty or research project.

UC TRAC is pleased to solicit applications for Accelerator Awards in TB Basic Science. Accelerator Awards will be granted up to three times per year to early-stage and new-to-TB investigators and dispersed as salary support for BSL-3 trained personnel who will perform the necessary experiments of the awardee.

WHO CALL FOR DATA

WHO’s End TB Strategy calls for the early diagnosis of TB and universal drug-susceptibility testing (DST). The WHO assessment process for TB diagnostics currently focuses on evaluating classes of TB diagnostic technologies rather than specific products. Learn more at the link.

The UCSF Center for Tuberculosis initiative on DEIAB aims to provide resources (boost awards and pilots) to under-represented investigators and provide strategic vision to implement DEIAB values within the programs and offerings of the Center and UC TRAC.
